Which model year of the 22 do you have? We are owners of a 2015 22FB Sport and the sink is probably one of our favorite configurations so far (this is our 4th Airstream we've owned).
We really like the overall counter space (and larger bed for a Bambi) in the 22, but I just don't understand why that sink is in it and not in any others. And of course it "looks" different than the other sinks which look more like home sinks.
Can you elaborate on why you like it? I am just trying to evaluate, and would really appreciate your input?
I don't have one here to compare, but I think the sink is the same as the one in the Interstate motor home.
Everything folds down to make up all those acres of kitchen counter space, and probably is the only one of suitabke dimensions that does so.

Since you're still looking and evaluating different kitchen/galley layouts take a look at the 20ft FC...we found a 2010 model 4 years ago that the original owner had used ONE time...so were lucky. But even if we were looking, I'd buy this model again for the great kitchen/galley layout...big divided sink, lots of counter space etc. However, there is one layout aspect that I think is pretty insane...the "emergency exit" is the window right over said sink and spigot...yep, right over it!!! Merry Christmas. jon
We have the 2010 22'Sport and love the kitchen sink. The tuck away faucet and plastic fold down cover add lots to the counter space. We put a good sized plastic pan full of rinse water on the dinette table and the drying rack right next to that. Soapy water goes in the sink. We dump the rinse water in the toilet thereby saving room in the gray water tank. Different strokes I guess...
We are quite open to any of the Bambis and 23s, and are in the evaluation stage for another year or so as I get an extra week's vacation in 2016.
I have realized that typically Airstream has a *reason* for most of the ways things are done. (weight, cost, working around un"seen" elements, physical constraints), and I am kind of surprised that this sink is not in any other trailer. It does appear to be what is used in the Interstates.
So I am curious as to why it is there, and also want to know if folks like it.
I believe its a marine sink or based on one,
I like it because if you need the counter space you can close it and have that extra space, also looks cleaner. My 2 cents

By 2014 that exit window was changed to one of the large ones in the dinette area. I don't know when they made the change may have been well before 2014.
We have a 2016 22FB with the fold-down sink and had a couple of occasions where the faucet got knocked to "on" when closing the sink. That and the fact the sink was small and cumbersome to use, so I switched it out for a similar sized round sink and faucet from IKEA. Very easy to switch with no changes to the plumbing, although I did have to cut a larger hole in the countertop for the sink. Not hard if you have some basic woodworking skills.
We absolutely love the new sink and faucet. Very stylish and easy to use, with no loss of undercounter storage space. We also changed out the bathroom faucet at the same time.
