Warranty Forever - Sport 22FB

Do any of you who bought new from the dealership get the "Warranty Forever" offer? It is free - sort of - but requires a 5 point inspection within 30 days of your purchase anniversary. So free it is not.

Best I can tell, the inspection by my selling dealer will net them $300 per year. If I go 5 years without a roof leak, furnace failure, or any of the other inspected items, I will have forked over $1500 for nothing but insurance.

Warranty Forever appears legitimate but expensive.

What is the group consensus or comment? Worth the effort to take the AS to the dealer and pay $300?

Nope. Absolutely not worth it. It's just a simple way for the dealer to make some extra money, with out doing anything to earn it....

I have a designated savings account for Airstream maintenance...it has two advantages:

1) It's MY money to spend at whatever dealership or repair facility I choose, if I need a dealer or "expert" to do something I don't want to. Most of the 'heavy, dirty' maintenance service I require is bearing and brake work, about every two years, and it costs less than $250 a pop...

2) When I need parts, which is the way I usually take care of things I work on, (My labor is "free") I've got money available, and don't have to schedule an appointment and/or wait forever to get something fixed by someone who may or may not care about how good a job they do. Hasty, sloppy work seems to be the norm...

That said, If it makes sense for your use case for the Airstream, and you think you will always be happy with what that ONE dealer does for you, its your choice.

Me, no way. I do 99% of my own work, use the best parts I can find, take plenty of time to do the work EXACTLY how I want it done, use the right tools and methods, and don't really trust a third party to do it right--this I have learned the hard way.
