This reminds me of the Ford pickup trailer backup control system that reverse steers your rig into a tight spot. It may be nice if I didn't have a spotter and a backup camera, but otherwise it is just something else to go wrong. Also requires a hitch wheel which I distrust.

This might work for some folks (the video shows an unlikely use for it) but my thought has always been, if I can't maneuver my rig using the TV, spotter, and camera, I should just leave it in the barn at home. IMHO.

Good luck on this one...I keep seeing the name as 'Trauma Mover' not Truma. LOL

It might be very helpful to place in a storage space but I'd be hesitant to use it as the video demonstrates. For one thing, the tongue jack wheel is too small for the terrain they try to portray. That little wheel will get stuck crossing that soft ground and stream. (Notice they didn't show the entire sequence?)

And once you get that trailer stuck in some tight space somewhere such as they try to show you..... (or if it breaks down once there)....how are you going to get your tow vehicle there, hitched up to get it pulled back out?

No, I'd not trust it to get into a camping spot but it might be a great system at a storage lot or tight storage situation.

Gulp!

Direct link to video:

https://youtu.be/TNVIhnjBSaQ

Looks like a European/Canadian product, very expensive to retrofit to an existing AS, and ditto I would never use it as pictured in the video.

Gulp!

Hey Walter, they talked about this system on the fit RV YouTube channel when they toured Truma factory in Europe. It’s Europe only at this time.

That was a European trailer and nearly all have very little tongue weight. Those little wheels are on most European trailers and are often used for maneuvering by hand.

Truma is a very well-known and respected company within the RV community in Europe. I doubt if they would market something that does not do pretty much what they claim.

Is it suitable for North American trailers? Probably not because that little wheel certainly would not handle our tongue weights.

IMHO

it is very easy to add a 1000 lb (capacity) shop wheel under the jack post.
if the jack post base plate does not swivel, then a flat bearing could be sandwiched between the wheel and the base.

it could be held on with the cabinet hand screw or toggle clamps.

now i just need to find a CAN/USA dealer to but the system from

Check with Can-Am RV. I saw a trailer (not an AS) at their shop with a similar system about 18 months ago.

Here is another similar option, which supports single or dual axel trailers:

http://www.purplelineusa.com/product...iler-mover.php

They also recommend and sell a heavy duty dual caster wheel for the tongue jack post.

I do not own one yet, but will need a system like this to store our future trailer at home.

The prices don't include labor, so that should be taken into account. Also, what would Airstream have to say about drilling into the frame, in terms of the warranty?

With an Airstream's frame being buried above the bottom skin, not sure how easy this installation would be IMO. Also, when replacing the bottom skin, it will have to be modified to miss the hanging parts of the Truma assembly. Are we sure that the entire new assembly will not conflict with [be in the same plane as] the bottom skin?

Possibly not so simple IMO!

For what it’s worth, PurpleLine told me that for a 27FB I would need their eGo200, 4-motor system, which costs about $3,500 plus a new beefy caster wheel and install.
