I've installed an additional tranny cooler, airbag support in the back and a breakcontroller. Are there any tips or tricks you've learned while towing with your set up?
I am also getting a weight distribution/ anti-sway hitch installed on pick up. I believe it's the E2.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Varnerdy. Welcome aboard.
My 2012 is similar but not identical to yours. My 4.0L V6 engine is a slightly different family and specs I believe. My GVRW is 5500.
That said, we pull our 22FB Bambi in the Rockies quite often. The 4R does a good job but cannot pull at the normal flow or highway speed of others. We know that and use the auto stick to keep us in manual - the is correct towing gear for the terrain. On a flat highway I use 4th (no OD) to keep my rpms in the 3000 range. Good speed and 14 mpg.
We have the EQUAL-I-Zer and it has done a great job and we added an aftermarket break controller. We do not have airbag shocks nor do we have an aftermarket oil or transmission cooler. The 4Runner is a very robust TV and made to tow. We keep our 22FB at about 4500 lbs and the air in the Goodyear Endurance (GYE) at 68-70 psi cold.
I sometimes forget the AS is back there. I drive the flow of traffic and that is usually 75 in Texas. I did install an OBDII dash monitor to keep tabs on some additional engine parameters. It lets me set the speed reminder to keep myself from going over 80 mph.
