The 16' Sport Closet

Well we all know there is not much to work with in the 16 Sport closet. The door is just 9" wide! But we tried to make the best out of dead space. We just finished in time to hit the road. Here are our photos:

Nice! Looks like it turned out well. I really like to lower shelves. Guess I better get busy on mine now.

Happy camping.

That looks great!!!!! I may "steal" your idea 😀 I'm preparing to install a safe in the bottom portion of the closet. I plan on it being "suspended" half way in the lower section. (I got the white one).

We just purchased the 16 sport for a family of 4 and I committed to do this very project but have lots of questions.

Where did you get the racks? Can you send any info on them?

Also what size screw did you use and did you pre-drill?

How did you drill, did you use a depth limiter or just wing it?

Mattskav,
Ok, first we don't remember what size screw we used but just measure the wall depth and go smaller. I wish we still had the package but we don't. Tim pre drilled the holes. He put electrical tape on the drill bit to keep him from going too deep. He borrowed a drill. He used a right angle drill so it would fit in the closet. We made the wire shelf swing up so you can get into the water heater box. The shelf was bought at lowes. And we used rubber tips on the ends so it wouldn't scratch the sides as we traveled. We used a hack saw to make it the right size. The shelf only came in 3 foot lengths. I'll look and see if I still have the label for the shelf. We went to the closet dept and looked to see what would be good. I like how we hung it upside down so we have a lip or rim and stuff won't fall off while driving.

Thanks! I found the lower shelf at target and used the included screws. I took the lazy way out on the upper half! We also found a good organizer and some hooks. Both needed modification but seem to fit well now.
