Sport 22FB wardrobe changes
We took out the wardrobe "hanging pole" and added a Container Store Elfa
shelving unit. Unfortunately while traveling the weight of items stored inside
cause the door to open spilling most everything onto the floor. Was told by
another AS owner that they use magnets to remedy the problem. Didn't get
specifics. Has anyone out there done this? If so what size, strength/power
of magnet did you use? And, where did you purchase? Thanks.

Looks good. How do you keep those items on the shelves from forcing the door open during travel? Particularly the heavier ones. We see everything on the floor after driving 65 on the interstates. We have to take everything out and place them on the bed. I'm also looking into adding a couple of additional "closures" similar to the existing one on the door instead of magnets. Interested in how
you are making things work for you.

I had same issue. Replaced my latches with these and they can be tightened as hard as you need. No more cabinet doors opening.

hello @Skybear46
you can't tell from the photo, but there is wood trim on the front of each shelf.
thus the front lip is 1/4" higher than the self
that prevents items from sliding out and hitting the door open.
i used roll LED tape on three sides of the door opening and mounted on strips of wood with at 45 degree angle pointing in. there is a DC switch so that you can turn the LED on or off. they can be power by 12V or a 110V plug.

I just used the link above and it worked, I’m using the app.
For some reason, it won’t let me post a picture, says I have exceeded my quota. I’ll repast the link. If it doesn’t work, send me a pm with your email and I’ll email it directly to you.

While we are on the road, I have a set of "footman loops" and a tension-able 1" wide strap that holds my closet door, privacy curtain, refrigerator, and oven door all firmly shut at the same time. I still store a few jackets, etc in the hanging closet, but there are a few things in the bottom that can slide around, and the big heavy first-aid kit is mounted to the back of the door. Strapping the doors seems to be the most secure way to keep them shut.

behind the dewalt vacuum, it the large tool bag.
the emc bag hold small hands tools
we just use a bungee chord through the outside door handle with the hooks on the TV mount. if the door tries to open , the bungee pulls it closed, plus we use the bungee when parked

Thanks. Is the $20 charge yearly? I paid it, but like last year I think. So if it’s annual guess it’s time to up it again.

What a smart use of available space! I've always thought that just hanging clothes in the relatively 'spacious' closet wasted the potential it offered to store the everyday items you reach for all the time. When I had a 19' foot Bambi, that space was on top of the refrigerator. In the 25' int'l sig, there is no flat surface to use on top of the frig, so this solution would answer that need. I will have to find someone to install this solution for me when I pick up my trailer. Thank you.

Anyone modifying the closet, please don't forget to make sure that whatever you add is removable or otherwise doesn't block removing the floor...as it is the only access point for critical elements, including the water pump and a set of low point drains for winterization.

@SilverHouseDreams
excellent point to remind people
that's what i did when i put the shelves in. the bottom one pops up after i remove the items
you can see the outline of the opening that the shelf sits on
you can see bypass vales i added, so that i can isolate the pressure regulator and high flow filter

What we did when traveling was 2 strips of duct tape from front of the closet door to the wall by the TV. Not pretty or elegant but worked, and kept the bins in place and the door firmly closed. Easy to remove when on site and no residue on either surface. Could be reused a few time and then repeat the process.

i installed elfa unit in my wardrobe. used cable ties to secure within the wardrobe, so the unit doesn't move. to keep the drawers from pushing on the wardrobe door in transit, i attach 2 shock cords in an "X" pattern from top to bottom. that solves the problem. i also changed the latch from existing J catch latch to one with higher pull strength catches. the existing catches are 3 to 5lbs pull. i changed them to 10lb pull. i also did this on the latches under the sink.

Wardrobe issues
Just a follow up. While I was in the dealership for some minor warranty work had the latch catch on the wardrobe door & frame replaced from 5 lb to 10 lb (no charge). Will see if it is enough to secure things going down the road although I believe I will continue to cross stretch the elfa unit with bungees to prevent the weight of the unit from coming in contact with the door. Probably should bungee the door handle to the TV wall support as well. Thanks to all who have provided insight and good ideas.
