Sport 22FB and the Mothership visit
Just completed 3200 miles with the 22FB from Texas {HOT} to Michigan {NICE} and returned through Jackson Center. The tour of the plant was worth the time.
While there I was struck that on that day only one 22FB was being assembled in the main building among all the other coaches. But found out later after the 22FB shell is completed and mated to the frame/wheels it goes to a different building for final outfitting. They have a LOT of Sport orders and the 16 and 22 are built in the same AS fashion but away from all the Adult AS varieties.
I can tell anyone that the AS assembly work is slow, methodical, and very careful. Roughly 4 days to complete a single Airstream. Nothing like the 'other' types out there on the road. I saw the care that goes into the plumbing, upholstery, etc. I witnessed the interior assemblies being carried through the door. The interior is outfitted with the RV air conditioner running (testing?) and probably helps the craftsmen do a thorough job in comfort.
I did meet with the Customer Rep I had worked with on our water heater issue (different thread) and he was very accommodating. If you have an issue with anything AS and your dealer is slow to respond, call the Mothership. They care.
