Source for new mattress? Better yet, Tempurpedic??

I just purchased a 2005 16' Bambi Safari. The mattress is sort of gross... where would you suggest I purchase a new one? (I know: "Airsteam" - but, seriously, which Airstream dealer (Colonial)? Or online vendor??)

Anyone go the route of a Tempurpedic? I really like the one I have at home.

Several good threads if the subject is searched. Be sure to measure carefully.

We're very happy with the one we got from Rocky Mountain Mattress. It's super comfortable and fits perfectly. They couldn't have been nicer or easier to work with.

We got a mattress through Rocky Mountain as well. Totally satisfied.

I got a quote from Rocky Mountain but then found a local vendor (Wholesale & Retail Mattresses in Brockton MA | The Mattress Maker of New England) which is approx 2/3 the price, and which I can collect from in person. Only takes a week for a custom size/shape, and if you can visit you can try their demo setups and choice a combination to suit.

They are south of Boston but maybe worthwhile considering if you are in Vermont because shipping mattresses is expensive!

Super helpful! Thanks so much for the leads - especially since they're more current than anything I could find searching.

Replaced our cheap factory mattress with a Tempurpedic and now the Airstream is comfortable for sleeping.

VT - welcome to the forums!

Not a particularly good location for you--but not far from Jackson Center if you happen to be in our neck of the woods. We were very pleased with the mattress that Sleep Tite Mattress Factory made for our 1960 Pacer. They do a lot of RV and yacht beds.

Thanks for these leads!

I take it no one with a Bambi has a Tempurpedic? A google search doesn't help... but there seem to be plenty of knock-off type materials out there. I may just go that route.

Tempur-pedic is a single manufacturer (albeit the most popular) using what are called 'traditional' memory foam (the foam itself is very common place now), and there are other more advanced foams, for example air-cool and gel (search on "memory foam types" will give you examples).

So if you are searching specifically for a Tempur-pedic mattress (single brand) for a Bambi I doubt you will find anything. If you search on 'custom memory foam mattress for Airstream' you will find plenty. That is why I suggested you go and try laying on the different foam types - they feel very different, and can be made to the size, thickness and shape that you want.

We bought a quality memory foam topper for a queen bed (around $140 or so) and just trimmed it to fit with a good pair of scissors. Much cheaper and very comfortable. WAY better than the factory mattress. My wife and I are picky about our bed and this suits us fine. It all depends upon how "gross" your mattress is at this point

Smile Mattress

I have replaced our mattress in our FB 27' with a custom 10" memory foam made for us by a local company called R&S Mattress in Phoenix AZ. The mattress was notched out to fit between two night stands. They finished the mattress with a custom cover. They did a great job and charged a fair price $1,000
I did inlarge the bed platform 8" on each side and bottom. I replaced the gas shocks to handle the added weight.
Easy project at a fair price ZZZZZZZZZ

PS perhaps you have a local suppiler that can do this for you.

I would stay away from a Tempur-pedic mattress for an AS because of the weight. We have a Tempur-pedic mattress at home and I love it (although my wife complains that it's a bit warm for her taste). But, it's a bear to pick one of those mattresses up and move it. It weighs a ton. There are probably better options for an AS replacement mattress.
