I also carry both, but the slinky is the back up. In ten years, I have used the slinky twice and only for gray water.

Michael,
Did you try cleaning your tanks with Calgon, soap, & bleach?

I flushed ours with the wand & added lots of cleaner & the smell got better but didn't go away. Now after storing the AS the smell is worse again. The odd thing is when we camp & use the black & grey water tanks there is no smell at all. Not sure that helps me solve the smell issue but it does seem odd. Where did you find Calgon? Didn't see at the grocery but will try Walmart.

Thanks

Quite right. We don't often visit campgrounds with full hook-ups but when we do, the sewer connecting point is usually too high for the slinky to work well, hence our use of the excellent SS. Yes, it's slow, but what's the rush?

The slinky stays on board for use at the communal dump station.

J&S, been using the concoction all summer. So far so good. I think I did get the Calgon at Walmart. They had liquid. Have not seen the powered anywhere.

I've had this problem before too. It was because I was unable to use the in-tank-water-swirler-muh-bob. Once I got to a good sewer with unlimited fresh water I hooked it up and was blown away by what came out. I knew it would be gunked up but this was like days worth of... solids... I could never get the tank sensor to read lower than 10%. And that's why!

I assume if you had one of those you'd be using it though and would not have this issue. Maybe try the old bag of ice trick as an alternative.

You would have to search but there is a video on YouTube that purports to prove the the ice trick is nothing more than old wives tale and does not work. I have never tried it so have no actual experience or opinion.

Okay, newbie question from someone who doesn't have their trailer yet. How do you add a mixture to the black tank? Through the toilet or is there another intake place?

Not quite sure what you are referring to. Does this extend into the tank through the toliet?

Thanks

Translation for non-Navy types:
Flush the additives down the toilet like normal use.

Sewer Dump Virgin (me ) question regarding Sewer System:

Do all, or most "sewer dump stations" at RV/camp sites also provide a water hose-bib to use at the dump-station?

And does the Sewer System work uphill because of the hose-water force down the 1" black tube or is it just the act of bigger pipe reducing to smaller 1" hose somehow do it?
