I report tractors on kijiji all the time. They also seem to be a target for scammers, like air streams. No email, no phone #, no location to inspect, report as fraud. If enough of us keep an eye on what a good price vs a rediculouly low price is, they will tire of being removed. They surface every once in a while. I like to keep them away asap, before good ,honest people get involved with them. These sites know how reliable the scam reporters are, if you do enough of them. take care

When we were looking for ours last year I responded to a too good to be true Cragislist ad - great looking 70's era trailer $2000. Similar story about "will deliver". They wanted a $500 deposit to hold it, but they said they had already contracted to sell it via eBay and so had to take the deposit via eBay. They emailed me a convincing eBay-like bill(?) for $500 to be paid via a link. Major alarm bells. I don't pay anything via and emailed link. The scam was getting the $500 bucks, which they didn't from me. I'm sure now that there was no airstream for sale.

It is almost certainly a scam generated by someone with minimum knowledge of the product he's using to separate someone else from their money. The next set of communications will reveal a hither-to unknown fee, like insurance or licensing fees to be paid in advance. Typically however, the price asked would be much lower- perhaps there is a growing sophistication this time around. Don

Picture looks very similar to this one in Florida:

Note, the one in Florida did not have the stabilizing jacks lubricated, so I would definitely stay away from that one.

Google has a neat feature which lets you search for other instances of the same picture. That is how I found the one in Florida. Great for ferreting out scammers using borrowed photos. Check out these links for how to implement this feature:

Actually, it can be kind of fun to see how far the scammer will take things. Usually what they tell you is that it's being stored at some facility someplace, and you need to make payment through some other institution to complete the deal. A common element of these particular scammers is they tell you they (the scammer) are some sort of eBay merchants (I forget the precise term they use - it was new to me) to add legitimacy to what they're doing.

Crazy...who knew?

Lesson learned. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is a scam. They sent another email this morning wanting to follow up with us, but we simply sent a message saying we were no longer interested.

Janet explained (in post #31 of Re:CAPTCHA), that some disgruntled used trailer scammers have caused some of the DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks on AirForums, which is one reason why AirForums uses the CAPTCHA challenge test to screen postings.

See the AirForums thread: Re: CAPTCHA "I'm not a robot"

The ad offers to let buyers inspect it. Get the address and tell them your bro-in-law deputy sheriff lives nearby and will come look at it.
Get the VIN number and run a title check on it online.
Be certain it hasn't been flooded.

That is very annoying to someone with a legitimate ad and also unethical in my opinion. When I was listing my Bambi II on Craigalist some jackass kept reporting them as scams. It was an honest ad listed for a fair price. It sold here to a member in Dallas for the asking price.

Do you know what a learning experience is? A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."

Interesting. This sure looks like it was taken in front of the doors to Colonial Airstream. One picture seems to be the trend for scammers.

You are correct NC. I asked for more pics, which I did receive. All pics were from a previous listed International from Colonial.
