replaced shower accordion door with solid door

we had too many issues with the accordion door

i ordered a solid shower door from CANAM in London ON( they are great for service and parts) for our 2017 as 22fb

it is made by Shower enclosures of America in Ontario , CA, USA
it is model A100, the design is unchanged since April 2008

it was suppose to fit in the 2017 as all bambi and all 22'/23' FB models have the same bathroom spec

the manual, like many AS manuals is shorts of details

most of the time is spend with removing the old door and stripping all the old caulking

read the instructions well and dry fit first. it may take 2 people to do the dry fit

the sill is too long, that's ok, you cut to fit

but the whole assembly was 1/2" too wide

aarrgghh!

well i have a good shop so i trimmed 1/2' of aluminum with my handsaw on two pieces to make it fit

instead of caulking, i water proofed with the same white bonding tape i used on the roof. after 12 hours its almost impossible to remove

That looks nice!

I'm pretty sure my trailer uses the same door, over four years of use, no problems.

Very nice! You are relentless in improving your 22FB! If we ever use that bathroom for anything other then my wifes wardrobe (shower) and dressing room (toilet and sink area) well copy you. The only time its left home was the trip to Jackson Center and Im telling you its sure good to be back!

I know that sounds crazy (I guess it is). If we ever get our cabin built the 22FB will be another option for guests/relatives.

an issue wit the instillation is that the two jamb brackets have to parallel, perpendicular to the floor and co-planar

matching and aligning these three planes is very hard.

i got 2 of 3

in the end the two alum jambs were not co-planar.

thus the door touched at the bottom and there was a 3/4" gap at the top

as the tape magnets are week. the door could close( as they twist a lot) but could easily pop open.

there is a latch on the outside to keep it close, but its not accessible from the inside

instead, i add three small 1/2" rare earth magnets and they connect to a piece of thin metal (with iron ) that is double sided taped to the jam frame.

now it stays closed

waninae39 this so nice. I wish I had the ability you have to upgrade my 22FB. But you are a model for us who can't.

just come back from a 3 day weekend

i had to add magnets on the top edge of the door
the magnets that were on the door have low hold, these new magnets work much better
this is what is looks like now

no water coming out

it is now more bright as the light comes through the door better
