Newbie Questions on my Sport 22FB - Batts, Solar

Hello all,

Just brought home my new 19' AS Sport 22FB.

1) Pulled my breakaway switch (just sitting in driveway) for some reason since dealer (i thought) told me to while storing. It depleted my battery, i've been plugged in to my house for 110 power and seems to be charging fine. Any damage to Battery or breakaway switch you think?

2) SOLAR: I'm looking for an affordable solar option just to charge the batteries and light load. Nothing more. I got the flexible Renogy 100W panel set to delivery tmrw. Since my 2019 Airstream 22FB has a solar plug, will I still need a controller? Will I need another 100W panel?

Thanks much!

Breakaway switch is NOT a parking brake. Dealer would not and should not tell you to pull it while parked. Bigger worry is "what did it do to your brake magnets?" That can fry the magnets, and then you have NO brakes... Read up on how to check brake condition, etc.

Batteries may eventually charge back up, but may not have full amp-hour capacity any more...

For best results, solar panels should be used with a controller to properly manage the battery charge. Best type of controller is an Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller with a battery temperature sensor. They do the best job of optimizing solar panel output and battery charge state. Get one big enough to allow adding a few more panels in the future.

Look through the forums and at AMSolar's excellent website for lots of information on the care and feeding of solar panels and batteries:
