Please put the battery back in. Being scared beats being dead.
Get a new smoke detector if yours is too sensitive or goes off every time you use the stove even if you have the fan on.
Oh by the way, do you know the stove vent has an outside plastic cover that can be LOCKED closed for traveling? It has two little plastic tabs on each side, so if you've been using the vent fan with the vent locked, your alarm WILL go off!
One earlier poster noted that he used a cheap hotel shower cap and covered their smoke detector just when they were cooking. When dinner was served, the shower cap went in the drawer.
