New guy with questions

First of all, thanks for this forum.

We are professional photographers, traveling 20-30 weeks a year photographing horse shows. There are two of us but we do take our kids, 10 and 11, along at times. We also carry some equipment, at times up to 500-600 pounds.

Going to tow with a new Ram 1500 SuperCrew with 5.7 Hemi. Would love suggestions from people here...Also want to buy used, no need for a brand new one for us..

There is a 25 footer called a six-sleeper that might work out well for you, and would be easily towed by your Ram. It has a full sized bed in the back corner, a front couch, and a dinette which make into beds.

Welcome, you will need to be careful with the payload with a 1500. Once you get up to a 25' non-vintage Airstream you can figure on the tongue weight taking up about 800lbs of your vehicles payload (which is normally 1300-1900lbs including passengers).

I would mainly shop for a Stream for two. You can always put one child on the sofa or dinette. The other may need to sleep on the floor. They could also camp in a tent next to the stream.

Read, research, question and recon., in person, as many units as possible. Try to make it to a Rally.
It's hard but try to take your time, the Wisconsin Winter may help in that regard.

We had a 1972 Safri 23' that could sleep 4 nicely. Back in the day I even had it rigged up to use the back room as a dark room. Today the Sport series trailers are made with 7' wide coaches. If you can find any 21 to 25 foot trailer with the 7' wide body you will be fine. You should be able to tow any of these with a 1/2 ton pickup truck.
The WB (8' wide) coaches have a lot more room and higher ceilings but it comes with the cost of a lot more weight.
Good luck with your search. Prices for trailers are all about condition. An old 1963 trailer might sell for as much as $20,000 if it is in perfect shape and is fully restored and road worthy. At the same time, a 10 year old trailer can sell for only a couple of thousand. Of course, it would be poor shape and would likely have some body damage.
Start by looking at Ebay. Try these for a start:
