More Battery/Less Propane - 2004 16' Bambi Intl

Hi, everybody. I have a 2004 16' Bambi International CCD. Being one of the older models, the battery sits between the trailer a-frame rails ahead of the two 30 lb. propane tanks and behind the a-frame jack. The current battery mounting location only accommodates a single group 24 battery which is inadequate for our dry camping needs.

I'd like to add battery capacity but keep the net gain in tongue weight to a minimum.

I've been thinking about ways to reduce the amount of propane I carry...perhaps going down to a single 20lb or 30lb tank, then fabricating a setup to accommodate dual 6V batteries.

Any thoughts?

I've taken an initial look at Lithium Iron (LiFePO

4)
battery setups, but I think that technology is still in the early adopter stage (Issues still left to sort out and high prices). So, I'm thinking (2) 6V AGM batteries in series is the way to go.

I don't know if anyone has attempted to install a newer AS metal battery box on an older Bambi like mine, and if that newer box would physically accommodate the two 6v batteries anyway.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
