Welcome, I do not think it matters which style you use. As long as you do not try to use them for actually leveling the trailers, stabilizing yes, but not designed for lifting/leveling.

The original "BAL" jacks fold up closer to the bottom of the trailer. The scissors jacks hang down more, so less ground clearance. I bought 4 new BAL jacks for my Argosy when I got it, as it had none from the factory. I also think the scissors jacks look ugly hanging down under the trailer. Just my opinion though.
If you bent the jacks you probably bent the frame cross members as well or stripped some of the threads out of the inboard mounting holes. The metal there is not very thick.
