Huge back support on dininng table seat

I see the 25ft flying cloud and international has a very small/thin back support behind the back cusion, it make the seat' width bigger. The current huge back support are taking nearly 1/3 of space in a already tinny space. Don't know why manufacturer keep it this way. Any thoughts? I always move those 2 big supports from both seats to in my towing vehicle and use pillow to creat a larger seating space.
