Angry How much should a new rock guard cost?

How much is a new drivers side rock guard for a 2010 Bambi 19. I rented this recently and had some damage to the rock guard. Owner says if it cannot be repaired that a new replacement is $2K?? Really?

One side of a 3 piece rockguard is less than about $ 400.00.

I could tell you exactly, but I am not at my office.

Thanks for the reply. I would totally appreciate an exact quote tomorrow? I will not be able to control where the repair is done so cannot help you there, but would appreciate the reply. What about labor to replace? Thank-you!

You are referring to the rockguards (covering the windows) as opposed to the segment protectors(metal on metal), correct?

No, I am referring to the lower metal on metal guards. Apparently, besides the guard there is also a dent on the body of the trailer near where the guards attach.

In that case, I would think his estimate is in the ball park. Dented aluminum panels generally need to be replaced , because the aluminum stretches and cannot be reformed. It seems as though someone's insurance should pay for it.

It would be 8 hours labor to replace the segment, plus the cost of the segment, plus the cost of the segment protector. 2 grand might be a little low.

I had Jackson Centre replace a stainless rock guard on the front of our trailer about two years ago.

Actually only the bottom painted section which was riveted to the main stainless panel was damaged, but JC told me it would be cheaper just to replace the complete unit - I am pretty sure that as Andy has said a new part was no more than $400/

$2k would probably be about the price to replace a skin panel so maybe there is some confusion, but as you know the rock guards are just held on by hinges/brackets, very little labour involved.

Rock guards protect the front windows.

Segment protectos cover the front 2 quarter panels.

The Airstream factory suggested retail price for the left segment protector is $ 402.80

Their suggested retail price for the damaged quarter panel is $ 403.47.

Then you will also need 110 Olympic rivets at Airstreams suggested retail price of $ .64 each. One tube of Vulkem sealer will also be needed.

Then there is the freight from Jackson Center, to that dealer or person.

Lastly, the labor should run a total of 7 hours, at who knows what price.

If there is any internal damaged, then that would be an additional cost as well.

Your best bet, would be to turn the matter over to your insurance company, who most likely carries the liability for things that you may rent.
