The bathroom window? There should be a round plastic knob on the right side. I believe you turn it clockwise to open.

If you're talking about the bedroom window (big AS(s) single pane (pain)) then you don't. But it is easy to do this:

You open the latches from inside then go outside and 'gently' lift the glass edge away from the rubber gasket using your fingers or a plastic item. From the outside it is easy to snap the side locks. Viola.

Reversing the process is easy too. No need to get into bed to do anything until you need to close the latches.

If you’re talking about the bathroom window, there’s a knob in the bottom right corner. Our window was stuck in the frame at first. I had my better have put a little twisting pressure on the knob and I pulled open the bottom of the window. There was a little bind at first, but once it popped open, it worked like a charm.
