Furnace woes

Just learned I'll be paying a $559 bill to Shorewood RV to have the furnace in my 2014 16 Sport fixed. The problem is, I've had it in to the dealership 3 times for the furnace, and each time they said the thermostat was the problem and replaced it. Apparently this time the control board and sail switch were bad. Sadly, I've never actually even used the furnace. I hope mine is an isolated experience because I want to believe in Airstream quality, but right now I do not.

I understand your aggravation.

But this is not an Airstream problem.

It is dealer problem and maybe an furnace manufacturer problem.

Regards,

JD

Yes, true. But I expect the furnace that comes stock in an Airstream to work.

Replacing the control board and sail switch I don't think should cost near $559. For a little bit more you can get a new furnace.

Defective Sail Switch

Hi,
I just had to have my 2015 Flying Cloud gas furnace repaired, which was unfortunately outside of warranty. I spent over $200 replacing the sail switch and the furnace fan cage. The sail switch arm bent and destroyed the furnace fan cage. Either the sail switch was not properly installed or it was defective. The RV repair tech said he had never seen this before.
We had probably used the gas furnace less than 5 times. I feel your pain. Watching the repair, I could have done it myself had I looked.
