Enclosed Aluminum Insulated Heated Underbelly on 2018 Sport 22

The product description on our 2018 Sport 22 States it has “Enclosed Aluminum Insulated Heated Underbelly”. Anyone have an idea what area is specifically heated, and is this simply a comfort feature or does this mean if we run the furnace in winter we have any added protection against freeze up of water lines?

All of the water lines are above the floor. The main thing is that the furnace is ducted to also warm your fresh, black, and gray water tanks to reduce the chance that they freeze. I don’t know what temperature that actually good to, you’d have to look around the forums to find more info about cold weather camping. There are definitely those that do it though, had may require creativity to get below zero.

I took the wardrobe floor cover up to install a 12vdc power plug in the closet. I examined the area and indeed the water lines all exist above the lower subfloor and the furnace ducts pass over and around (but not through) the grey and black tanks. Didn't see if they also warm the fresh tanks but figure they do. And the shiny belly pan is visible as well. There is a lot built in redundancy for this AS.

If you store your AS in an enclosed bldg. I wouldn't bother running the furnace. Outside in freezing wx? Well I would still drain as much water as possible and set the temp on the lower range as insurance. But the furnace will suck LP like a Slurpee.

Last thought - since the pipes are above the subfloor - a ceramic heater left on inside may do the trick but I would monitor temps periodically JIC and still drain all lower pipes.
