Thanks Racoco

Found it!

Our Westy had several standard features hogging valuable storage space. We removed the TV, a large retractable clothesline in the bathroom and a safe in the kitchen, apparently these are common in European campers/caravans.

With bluetooth, iPads and iPhones I do not see a need for all the A/V equipment. I'd rather have the storage.

Don't worry, we save everything so that it can be reinstalled if necessary.

This is our third Airstream. As you can see by my side bar, we like the late model unusual models. Though the CCD in the metro look is pretty common place these days, ours was the low production original black and white.

Love the Winick as it is a nice middle ground between the Westy and the 28' CCD. We are very excited that we found one at the right time as we have long loved their styling.

I'm a modern quilter and I love having a new excuse to create. I currently blog about my quilting at pedalsewlightly.blogspot.com but I have an Airstream theme blog that I started to share with friends and family too. Etherbourn.blogspot.com. I may need to resurrect it for the Winick.

Thanks,
Gayle

Thanks
We replaced our 4 Sony speakers with 4 of these from Amazon: Pioneer TS-A1675R 6-1/2" 3-Way TS Series Coaxial Car Speakers. They are better, but we used the original Sony covers because they fit.

We still have the original Sony TV and Sony receiver since they still work fine even though the TV requires a conversion box, but we will probably remove the CD changer when we rebuild the cabinet that is falling apart. Still have the subwoofer but thinking of removing it to gain storage space; the new Pioneer speakers have pretty good bass.

Insurance for a 75th

Hey,

We are having a difficult time finding someone to insure our unit for its fair market value. We have found in the past that NADA lists Airstreams well below FMV.

I don't remember having the insurance issue with our 2004 CCD or our 2005 Westy but we did have problems when we went to sell the units with purchasers trying to get financed. Thankfully, we were able to find cash buyers for both.

We have contacted a classic car appraiser and I have made a list of 2006-2007 19' Airstreams that are currently for sale. All are well above NADA.

Any answers to the following would be appreciated:
Airstream Appraiser contact information.
Is your unit insured for FMV or NADA?
Do you feel comfortable being underinsured if at NADA value?
Info for insurance company that is willing to insure for FMV.

Thank you so much!

Bird's nest,

We purchased our trailer last spring. It is insured at FMV by Nationwide insurance. We have our house, cars, and my business with them. I'm not sure if that has any impact. They just needed a bill of sale and I provided some comparables from the forum and eBay.

Because of health issues we have number 16 for sale. We're asking 49. It's in the classifieds. We have enjoyed this little gem very much, you will too.

The most beautiful trailer out there, wow you folks have the one. My trailer renovation had some definite inspirations from Winick's great design.

Can anyone of you tell me what upholstery fabric was used in your Winick?

Thanks

Tony

Don't mean to deviate from the main thread but I am desperate to find out.

I can only tell you they are DesignTex fabrics, but don't recall the name. I don't recall which, but one of the colors was(and might still be) a stock color way and the other was a custom color way. If still in there line, you can purchase the stock one, but the other would probably be impossible to source now, and if they would do it, would require more yards than you can imagine.
I managed about 6 years ago to purchase the last of the custom color way remaining. At that time, I also purchased some of the stock color way from DesignTex.

We're close to finishing up a 2 week road trip with our Winnie, so will look in my file when home to see if I can find the fabric's name and number.
I'll also add why we bought new fabric back then - we bought an unused Winnie that had been stored in a climate controlled hanger, but for some reason the original owner reupholstered all of the backrest cushions with a Scottish plaid, "Black Watch". It looked very odd, but wasn't a deal breaker, and is now in the correct fabrics again.

Our Winicks New 'Sister'

Our Winick Bambi now has a sister! We did a custom 'renovation' of a 1976 Serro Scotty Sportsman. Kate and I designed the interior and had some basic concepts for the exterior. This was a 3 year project. Interior work done by Wayne Reynolds (Finger Lakes, NY), exterior by Craig Dorsey of Vintage Vacations (well known for his creative genius on the 'Adirondack Airstream' as well as many other gorgeous Airstream and other vintage trailers). The inspiration for our new 'Cabin Cruiser' is the Hacker-Craft wooden boats that we often see at great camps here in the Adirondacks. We always wished our Winick had a polished aluminum skin, so of course we ensured the skin of the Cabin Cruiser had the mirror finish we wanted on the Winick. A few photos...

The day we picked up the finished trailer at Craig Dorsey's in Nova Scotia...

Interior...

We still love our Winick which we will now use for our longer stays when we are in the Adirondacks. The Cabin Cruiser is perfect for those shorter/multi campground outtings.
