Thanks for the welcome. We're looking forward to dialing it in ourselves. This trailer was bought and then stored so all is original. We'd be interested in knowing what changes you feel were the most needed/beneficial. That said, I can tighten a bolt on the hitch make the rear bumper fall off. It's an unfortunate but often demonstrated talent of mine........Brian.

Brian,

Buried in this thread are various discussions on changes people have made or would like to make. Nothing major, mainly just annoyances that Airstream overlooked.

Those that come to mind first that we did are mouse proofing, ripping out the crappy audio/video system (and speakers),and method to keep the drawers from flying open during travel. Also be sure to plug up the back bumper tray as thin items, including the awning the pole can actually fall out the bottom onto the highway when driving.

Looking for Airstream 75th Anniversary...

We are looking to join the family and wondering if any owner would be interested in selling to two Airstream fanatics? Any guidance is appreciated.

I am a new owner of a Bambi, I didn't know much about Airstreams before we bought this from our neighbor. It has a 75th Annivesary plaque on it. Clew me in, is this special?

Chucke,

The 75th year insignia is just that... trailers that were built during the 75th anniversary year, so not really any 'specialer' than other years.

The David Winick special edition however is a limited production unit which does make it 'special' in that there are a somewhat rare model. Only 75 were make.

Its very easy to recognize the Winick special edition as the door has a round porthole window in the door rather than the usual square one.

Winick 75th Anniversary Bambi #57 for sale

Hi everyone - We are going to be selling our Winick Bambi #57, which is practically brand new. We were the second owner and we only camped with it three times. The prior owner never camped in it. We started farming a few years ago and we just can't get away enough.

We would like to get $50k for it, which seems to be the going rate for one in excellent condition. If anyone knows anyone who is looking for one, please contact me at hdavis18@mac.com. I will be glad to send pictures and answer any questions. The trailer is located in Statesville, NC.
Thanks very much.

We took our unit in for a few things a year ago, and the Airstream dealer replaced one tire. Afterwards I was thinking... why did they replace just one tire???? Stupid! Tires were already 9 years old. They should have replaced both due to age!

Lesson learned.... anyways I want to replace the second tire and I am currently not close to the trailer. Can anyone tell me the brand (think they are Goodyear) and tire size code so I can order another one?

Would be great to have 2 people confirm so I know we have the right tire.

Thanks

David Winick has a new venture: Acme Cider Company. As I know we all love our 75th Anniversary Winicks', perhaps you'd like to support David on his Kickstarter page. He's given us so much joy using the camper he designed, I'd love for him to succeed with this, too! Check it out.

Baby moon hub caps

Every time we take our baby moon hub caps off to torque the lug nuts it is a nightmare trying to get them back on. We already lost one of the originals and had to buy new ones....They are very hard to get on and DENT. Any suggestions to help us to get them on easier without denting them...Or wanting to throw them across the yard!!!!

Moon caps

Put the hub cap over two of the three lugs and hit the edge of the cap over the third lug with the heel of your hand. It should pop on without denting.

Can you please tell me where you found replacements? I am missing my baby moons and would love to replace them. Even our dealer can't locate any. Thanks very much.

Replacement baby moon

Holiday, a Airstream dealer in Albuquerque NM, got one for me 5 or 6 years ago. I believe they got it from Airstream.

Redneck Trailer Supply stocks them. Here's a link to their catalog. Your wheels are on page E-8, and the corresponding hubcaps are on page E-10. I replaced my wheels with 16" so I could fit LT tires, so know my part numbers, but you'll have to confirm which 15" wheel Airstream fitted. The original wheels are Dexstar, and this is one of the best sources for us consumers.

We were able to get two baby moons at $15 each when we were in Jackson Center on July 15. Our invoice shows "410922 CAP-BABY MOON CENTER 75TH." The parts desk couldn't find them but the resourceful tech who was fixing our AC did find them.

BTW our BAMBI75 (#01/75) has now been towed almost 60,000 miles and has been towed in all the lower 48 states and all Canadian Provinces except Saskatchewan. We have camped in most of them. We expect to at least tow in Saskatchewan, Yukon Territory, and Alaska next summer, perhaps also towing in DC and Northwest Territories. We will probably never make it to Hawaii and Nunavut.

Quick question for Bambi-75 owners... does anyone know where to get a replacement light for the bathroom ceiling to match original? Switch failed in ours (#12) and I can't seem to find a match anywhere.

Thanks.

Hey,

We just purchased a DW and believe it is the one Previously owned by Ethel. I have a couple of questions:
Where do you find the production number?
What do you replace the speakers with if you take them out?

This is our third Airstream. As you can see by my side bar, we like the late model unusual models. Though the CCD in the metro look is pretty common place these days, ours was the low production original black and white.

Love the Winick as it is a nice middle ground between the Westy and the 28' CCD. We are very excited that we found one at the right time as we have long loved their styling.

I'm a modern quilter and I love having a new excuse to create. I currently blog about my quilting at pedalsewlightly.blogspot.com but I have an Airstream theme blog that I started to share with friends and family too. Etherbourn.blogspot.com. I may need to resurrect it for the Winick.

Thanks,
Gayle

Thanks

Hi Gayle -- congrats on the 75. We love ours.

The production # of 75 is stamped in the bottom of the 75th Anniversary badge just right side of the door. At least ours is. And the Airstream VIN should be stamped into the tongue arms somewhere.

Haven't replaced speakers ... yet. I think our next project is pulling the CD changer and replacing with something digital. Already swapped out the TV and antenna for digital signal; not to mention a much lighter TV.

Safe Travels!
