Cover for 16RB ?

Does anyone cover their Sports during the off season? I used to have a Scamp and we covered it with a Calmark cover custom fit for it and that cover kept the Scamp looking brand new even though it had 40000 miles on it. No scuffs etc and we get wind and snow here in PA.

Welcome Aboard....👍

Not recommended for shiny aluminum...no way to keep dirt from under the cover, it will freeze to the panels. no cover is 100% waterproof and no manufacturer will guarantee it won't damage your AS.

I tried it on 63 Safari here in WNY... it did not work.🥴

Our '03 Classic does just fine under the snow.👍

Not worried about freezing to the panels, but did you see scuff marks in the clear coat ?

we used a custom Calmark cover last year
it worked very well
we could even get into the AS 22FB during winter

i built a chipboard frame around it so snow plowing would not hit it

Hi

You will do fine right up to the point that there is just enough road grit at the wrong place on the trailer. Once that happens, the clear coat is done for .... How lucky do you feel?

Thanks, that was my experience with the custom Calmark cover with our Scamp. The Scamp had a gelcoat on the fiberglass and the sun umbrella material worked well. So thanks for confirming that Calmark sun umbrella works on an Airstream,

Yes I did...from the cover freezing to the panels.
Dirt under the cover on a windy day=scratches.
The trailer is aluminum after all, what is the point of covering.
16 yrs of WNY Winters...no cover, no problems.👍

Thanks Bob. The reason we cover is that the sun eventually gets to the clearcoat. We just don't cover in Winter but year round when we don't camp. So it kept the Scamp clean. Secondly, we used a sunbrella material cover which is pretty soft. We have just got word that the folks from Canada used the same manufactures cover that we used on the Scamp but on their Airstream and they claim that they didn't have any problems so that answers my question. It would be nice if we had one more person respond who used a Calmark Custom cover made of sunbrella on their Airstream and what was their results. At this point, I believe we will continue our practice just like we did with the Scamp.

WELL....the Sol must be different in PA.🌞

In NY it never caused concern.

I covered an AS here in a WNY Winter...never AGAIN. 👎

I use Sunberlla on our boat...in Summer only. It won't scratch gelcoat...AS's are not gelcoat.🤔
