Burn Holes

We have a 2017 Sport and today noticed what looks like two small burn Holes in a small floor matt placed in front of the gas stove. Has anyone experienced sparks coming off the stove big enough to cause damage to the floor?

Cannot imagine unless something popped out of the stove pan and landed. I would be suspicious of the burns being caused at another location.
