Bed lift 2014 Sport 22FB

I have a 2014 sport 22FB.
Has anyone made the bed so it raises up to get to storage?
I've seen other models factory with this and i 'm thinking of doing this so i don't have to crawl on the floor to reach the bins at the front.
Thx

My '02 Classic came that way. Hinges at the head of the bed, and a gas strut to keep it in the up position. I thought they all had that feature.

No the sport has a door and you have to crawl in there to reach the 2 totes back in there.
Are there any part numbers on the gas struts?
That would be helpful.

You can get the Parts Manual here.
Manuals, Airstream Travel Trailers, Touring Coaches | Airstream

It does not show a Bed Lift so you might want to "borrow" a set from another model if you think they'll work on the sport. See page 99.

You peeked my interest, Adanac, seeing how I too have to slither on the floor trying to reach chairs, mats, etc from my 20ft FC's underbed storage. Wonder why I haven't thought of installing a hinged trap door before??? Maybe because the weight of the mattress and covers might have been too heavy? But your thinking is inspired and I'll look into it when I pull Daisy out of winter storage. Jon

I have a queen size bed with walk around. I just pick up the foot of the bed and lift it as far as it goes, then it stays until I push down on it. Now, it slams down if you don't ease it down gently.

BOOmerang.
The only thing I thought of that we need to be carful is the blinds will have to be up each time you lift. But other than that I believe it will work.
Also thinking of doing it with slats to lighten and some have mentioned getting mold with plywood but not sure about that. But would be better air movement.

WHat about ROCKLER stay-open toy hinges? Anyone tried or heard of that? Somebody tried it on a twin bed and supposedly it worked. But I'm not sure about the bigger Sport 22 bed. I'm very intrigued about this as I'm preparing to buy my Sportie in August.

You might try IKEA. I have one of their boxspring replacement units. It works great and lifts my Tempurpedic which is heavier than heck. The top slats could be modified easily to get the correct width. Just get the queen and adjust down.

Once the weather is better I'm going to make this happen.
Thanks The Ice Man for the manual for parts.

I found these folks very helpful with helping decide what I needed for a different project...front window rock guard lifts:

Lift Supports

Call them and discuss your needs, they may asy you for some measurements and weights. I'm sure those of us with current bed lifts can help with dimensions and weights.

I need a bit more lift power after adding foam topper, electric matress pads, and various linens.
