Bambi Heat Pump Question

Does anyone know if the "heat pump" on the 19' is a true heat pump or is it a heat strip? A couple of us are wondering if it would run on a Honda 2000i. If it's a true heat pump that requires spooling up the compressor then it would not (unless one has installed an EzStart system). If it's a heat strip and doesn't draw too much current it might work.

My understanding is that the heat strip is only in the Sport, and that anything with ducted A/C is going to have a true heat pump.

Turn on the heat, not the furnace. If the compressor starts up, it's a heat pump.

It's a heat pump. It will stall the 2000. It even stalls my 3000 if another load is also running.

Hi

It's compressor based. It actually pulls a bit more current in heat pump mode than in air conditioning mode. A generator that will "barely" run it as an air conditioner will stall out when you try it in heat pump mode.

Your 2000 will run the A/C and/or heat pump if you have installed a MicroAir EastStart 364. I highly recommend you go this route because the 364 also conditions the AC voltage and is much easier on your unit. If you are going to high altitude you may need a larger genny.

Just got our 2018 22FB and the heat is an 11,000 btu heat strip and NOT a heat pump. It works great but have not tried it on my Honda 2000ui generator. Would only use the LP furnace if boon-docking. As mentioned, the ducted units are prolly a pump (reverse A/C).
