Airstream Storage how far away from Ocean?

I'm looking for RV storage for my Bambi and was wondering how far inland from the ocean is best so salt air isn't a big factor in corrosion?

I live near the Ocean, but want to store the AS far enough away to protect from salt, but not so far away it makes picking up the AS undesirable. Thanks.

Anything east of Lincoln Blvd in Santa Monica and you should be fine.

Thumbs up Welcome Aboard....

Twenty Nine Palms....

Really....out of the chronic Ocean fog should be fine....along with a regular Prevent/Maint routine.

Frankly, it's L.A. It does not suffer from the winter storms like the N Pacific coast has to endure. The OR/WA coast frequently get winds pushing salt spray sideways at 35 to 70 miles an hour, with a few gusts every winter exceeding 80. In L.A., if you are four blocks from the beach, you are golden.

Thanks for the replies. The corrosion posts had me worried a bit, so I was putting more thought into storage.

Cool AS storage...

We keep our vintage '64 Safari at our beach house in Playas de Tijuana (25 miles from our San Diego "Casa") and have minimal corrosion challenges, and we are right smack dab on the cliff overlooking the beach! Occasional rinsing and wiping down is all that has been required! Good Luck with your storage search!

We are 3,000 miles from the Pacific, but 500' from the Atlantic. The airstream itself is not a corrosion issue. Many secondary issue arise such as the arms on the fantastic fans. Like others above, I've found that regular wash, wax and maintenance address the issues.

Gently beg to differ. We live 315 feet above sea level and about five blocks in from the ocean in Pacific Palisades at the same location since 1983. Ocean air has corroded anything sensitive to salt within about two years.

We have no room in our small lot for our Airstream, and keep it in the Riverside area for cost reasons. Definitely a long trip, but handy if we're heading east.

So I'm a little leery of the anything east of Lincoln, and personally would at least get as far East as the 405.

I loaned my 1996 21' Excella to my mother in law for four years. She lived approx 40 miles east of Orlando. When I got it back it was a mess from the corrosion.

Further inland RV storage (on the west coast) provides power wash, dump station and free ice for $150 for 25'. Price is right and the threads on corrosion is enough inventive to drive 20 miles.

I bow to your experience in the Palisades. I went to High School in W.L.A, (University) and lived around Barrington and San Vicente. We had no corrosion issues there, but it was about four miles inland. I may have overstated the four blocks thing.

We had a beach cabin in Gleneden, (just S of Lincoln City in OR) and I swear, you would put up a new light fixture on the outside of the house and it seemed ten minutes later it would be rusted.
