Airstream Factory Tour

We're planning a trip from our home in Wyoming to Johnson Center in September. Having some repair work done on our 16' Sport and doing a factory tour. Has anyone else done the tour and have any recommendations? How much time should be planned to spend after the tour? Is there anything else to do close to Johnson Center?
Thanks

Jackson center is a one stop light town......not much to do there. Tour is great....well worth your time to take it. Figure 30 minutes after tour to chat with others and maybe go to the Airstream store to see if there are some mementos.

Enjoy yourself!

We went on the tour multiple days in a row and saw something different every time. We were there for a week, if the repairs take multiple days then airstream is really good about getting your trailer back outside at their full hookup spots by 4pm every day.

We did a major drive one day and went to hocking hills by Columbus. Beautiful waterfalls and is touted as the prettiest area in Ohio. Worth it, we left around 8am and got back around 5pm, stopping for lunch and early dinner.

Neil Armstrong Museum

A short drive north is the county seat, Wapakoneta, hometown of Neil Armstrong and home of a great little museum where you can touch a piece of the moon and some great artifacts from his first airplane to the Gemini space capsule that almost killed him and Dave Scott when it started to spin out of control in orbit. This being the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, it's a must see.

The big unknown for us is how long the repairs will take. We're planning on leaving the Sport at Johnson Center while we travel to Louisville, Kentucky to visit Family. Hopefully they will keep the Sport safe for us for about a week. Repairs include replacing a damaged black water tank belly pan and minor adjustment of the door. We will be staying in Wapakoneta before the drop-off.

While at JC

Take a day to visit the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. About an hour drive from JC to Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Fantastic place and the last time I was there it was still free admission and parking.

P.S. I think there are 2 traffic lights in town now. Progress, you know.

New Bremen has a decent restaurant, 17 West. A tad pricey, but nice ambiance and good food.

"One stop light town"? Heck, that describes Wyoming as a whole as we are the least populated state in the nation!

Have fun on your trip, and maybe we may pass upon your return as we should be settled in Dayton by then!

there also Columbus Zoo close to JC, this zoo is featured on tv as wild Kingdom with Jack Hanna, has electric scooters for rent very reasonable priced, IMO needed as very spread out w/dif. animals & large savana area [many acres] with elephants giraffes etc. all loose to roam. Some more things to do see on drive to or from JC are Studebaker museum South Bend Indiana. Studebaker co. has a large history of auto development & styling. Auburn In. has Auburn Cord & Duesenberg auto museum that also has other early auto manf. [11 manf.] on display, it's also a National Historic Landmark. There is a smaller auto museum about 100 ft. from auburn museum that has a good display vehicles. [Same grounds] Auburn has a very knowledgeable volunteer staff that roam around & very easy to talk with. Bill
