2017 Bambi Sport - How to turn on the furnace?

Newbie here! Planning an early spring trip to the mountains and never camped in the cold and may need heat. What’s the best way to warm the trailer? Dometic roof AC/heater or furnace? If I decide to use the furnace how does one do that? Does it require propane? Thanks in advance!

Dometic roof furnace is good if you have electricity and just want to take the chill off. Furnace runs off propane, just adjust the thermostat and everything runs automatically. Good luck and enjoy

Not sure which Bambi you have but think both the 19 and 22 have Dometic roof A/C with heat strips. The roof unit does NOT have a heat pump. Just strips. Many other AS units have a heat pump.

If you camp where there is 120VAC the heat steps will work ok down to about 35º F but the LPG furnace will work much better AND you don't even have to have 120VAC. You can boondock with on-board 12VDC and a full LPG tank(s) and the furnace will do the trick.

The Atwood thermostats can be difficult to operate sometimes if that's what you have. The small lever that turns the unit on... will require so much effort you'll think you're going to puncture your thumb before it "snaps" to the desired position.

Take courage, tho', and it'll work. My wife has to use a spoon or knife to move the lever due to the pain caused in her finger to move that lever.

We solve the issue with the guess driven temperature control on our 2011 by replacing the thermostat with a "Honeywell TH1100DV1000 Pro-Digital 2-Wire Heat Only", just be sure to carry extra batteries...though I pop mine off the wall and put a piece of electrical tape over the battery to keep it fresh when we aren't in heating season or it is winterized.

It is great not waking up 10 times the first night adjusting between "too hot" and "too cold". This would be a great option assuming you don't have one of the fancy digital panels of complexity.

I had the same issue. Service manager said "man up" and that it won't break...and he was right. Getting easier now.
