2016 Sport Prices

So I have to ask ... anyone willing to share what they paid for a 2016 Sport 16? Just wondering what a "fair" price is for one. Airstream retail is steep!

What I Negotiated Off My 2016 22FB Sport Airstream

This is not the 16' model but I negotiated the MSRP price of our 2016 22FB Sport Bambi of $53,823. having the upgraded leather seating & they thru in a custom Aluminum Propane tank cover because I said the plastic one that came with the trailer looked like a piece of crap to $ 46,138. I do know I saw some dealers on line selling them cheaper out west but the convenience of having a dealer a 40 min. drive away & having not to spend a added few thousand dollars more to the price to pick up myself or have a private transporter to our location in upstate NY did not make much sense. I do not know if I got a great deal or not. I know value wise it would have made more sense to have purchased a 22-26' Flying Cloud having more/higher grade amenities but I had a tough of enough time convincing my wife to spend what we did. What's a fair price to pay off the MSRP for a Airstream ? That's a tough one, are they overpriced ? ... definitely. Any one else like to voice their opinion ?

I had more luck finding a "fair price" when I started looking for and finding a new 2015 model that was still sitting in an Airstream Dealers lot. I started my search looking on line at the inventories of all the Airstream Dealers in ours and the 4 neighboring states when our nearest Airstream Dealer kept selling their 2016 Sport 22FB's for full price before they were delivered. I found a few and then expanded my search beyond the bordering states. I found several more for comparison and lucked when the best deal was also the closest at 470 miles away. I was told of 4 differences that the 2016 had over the 2015.

1. Flying saucer (digital?) tv antenna.
2. Interior LED lights.
3. Whitewashed cabinet color in lieu of teak color.
4. Flooring.

Saving the best part of this story for last...Airstream started their 2015 inventory rebate program on November 1st and offered us a $750 rebate to take delivery of an "in stock" 2015 Sport which we did on November 4th. All said and done, our purchase price with rebate was slightly more than $40K which was about $13K or so less than the 2016 that included the 4 differences listed above. It cost us $150 to replace the incandescent bulbs with LED's. Ours doesn't have leather, but we can always zip new leather seat covers on ours cushions if we still have this one if and when they wear out.

The only negative we have experienced so far with this method is that the Interstate battery was DOA (sat in the dealers lot too long) and out of the 1 year Interstate battery warranty before we took delivery of our Airstream. We are working thru that right now but regardless of that outcome, we will still consider ourselves WAY ahead.

Good luck.

Hi .... That's a huge savings over what I paid , that six grand will purchase a lot of steaks. That's almost 25 percent off the MSRP price of a 2016 with very little difference in upgrades. I do not even know if that is actually even possible for a buyer here in my area of the country to get a dealer to discount that much off the MRSP. I know the timing of when we arrived at the dealer to look, about 2 days after our unit was shipped from Airstream & arrived at the dealer did not help us. In your case the timing & the area of the country where you live certainly helped with your negotiating such a good deal. There used to be more Airstream Dealers here in my immediate area & when they do arrive say at my dealer the 21'8 Sports do not stay on the lots long. Unfortunately living here in the northeast is not the best place to buy a New or used Airstream. Hopefully if & when I upgrade to a Flying Cloud model the experience from my first purchase & all the helpful information from you & the many others who contribute to this forum will make my next purchase a wiser one & enable us to achieve more savings.

We bought our 2015 Sport 16 last August at Colton RV in Buffalo, NY. We paid ~37k vs 44k MSRP. I called Colonial AS in NJ a the time and they wouldn't get anywhere close to that - he said "I'm not going to give them away." Even their 2013 used units weren't much different from what we paid new.
