2006 Bambi 16' Quicksilver Edition
I just purchased my first Airstream.....it's caused such a ruckus in my neighborhood I have started scheduling appointments for the neighbors to see inside it.
Shoes off of course!
This is the coolest little silver egg! And, fully self contained with all the comforts of home. This week I have spent 2 nights in it parked in the driveway. Me and my jack russell Missy like to go lay inside of it and watch movies on the flat screen tv. We usually fall asleep and nap for a few hrs!!
Does anyone know if there is a AS Club in San Diego or even California?
I'm planning my first trip to the Colorado River very soon!

That'll be the start of it. We get stopped at stoplights, campgrounds, etc all with questions about our Safari.
Nice coach, welcome.

Neat little trailer
I spent some time in a Quicksilver Edition yesterday. What a neat little trailer. I loved the wood-look floor; it looked like the deck of a sailboat. Neat upholstry and neat little lampshades at the dinette. For some of my solo treks to the state parks, I could really go for one.

We can't wait to get ours out of storage, slept in it one night, towed it home
and put it in storage. Our first trip will be south fr Sun Valley,Id. to Zion and
on over to Page & Co. River, Az. NM and Texas. We know a lot of neat camps
along the way...no RV parks if we can help it. We love the Corps parks. Have
you heard of them??? Let us know if you have any suggestions re. stowing stuff etc. Happy Trails & warm regards, Betty & John PS we have two Kerry

Corps Parks
They are Army Corps of Enginers. There are quite a few in the south, but they
are all over. Wonderful parks and usually very pretty located on lakes. They
at one time had a book of locations but now do it by regions. You can some-
times find them in camping books such as Trailer Life. The folks that work in
them are usually retired and very helpful with knowledge of the area and very
friendly. We seek these parks out to camp in. You will not ever be dissapointed. Warm Regards and Happy Trails PS I found some wonderful
hooks on QVC that are a suction and do well on the metal of the AS. Great
for towels jackets etc. Also we think our sleepsack from Camping world the
greatest!

Outside shower
Just wanted to ad that you can buy a pop up cover for outside to use
with the outside shower. We had a Casita before the QS and only used
the outside shower. The only way to go! If you want to know where to
get one I could let you know. Happy Trails, Betty

Betty, I'm interested in the sleep sack you mentioned, but could not find that on the Camping world site. They have something called a Travelsack. Is this what you have, and what exactly is it? Also did you find it difficult to fit the curved shape of the 16's bed?

Travelsack
Yes the Travelsack is the same. It is summer on one side & winter on the
other. The sheet is inside with velcro just take it out to wash. Sooo easy.
Just fold it all under to form to the bed. We also have a down comforter..
a must for us as we sleep with windows wide open to see the stars and we
camp all over the west and a lot of time in Co. Have you camped at Lees
Ferry on the Co. river? A pretty camp. Nice in spring but could be hot in
summer. Happy Trails, Betty

We're preparing to make our first AS purchase -- and we're in San Diego, too. Did you buy from the local dealer in Santee, or did you find better pricing further away? Any updates on your experience, after a couple of months?
We've got our eye on the 19' Bambi Safari SE, but the 16' QS is what got my wife really excited for an AS! It's great to see this kind of enthusiasm
Cheers,

Hi, I have a brand new quicksilver too! My husband and I have been having happy hours on the weekends in it. We're planning our first trip in May to celebrate our 20th. It such a great little pod to shut out the rest of the world. I am really looking forward to hitting the road - destination unknown soon!
keep in touch

Based off a terrible service department and an incompetent sales staff (there are others on this Forum that feel the same way), make the trek up to Southwest Coaches in Irvine and deal with Bo there. The whole staff and service department are exceptional and really know their Airstreams. You can see the pride of ownership when Julia Roberts and Matthew McConuaghey trust them with their rigs (not that THAT should sway you, but you'll see...)

New Bambi Owner
Just bought my 2006 Bambi Quicksilver last Sunday but won't actually take it home until Thursday. (So of course I will be camping this coming weekend!) I have been lusting after this AS for a while now and it will be my first! Any special tips for a newbie? Anything I should be sure to ask/check when I pick it up?
Also, are there any clubs in the central coast area of CA? (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey etc.)???
THANKS!

Embarrassing Newbie Question
Thanks for the info.
I had a 16 foot Scamp for a few years and took some long trips in it (including a drive from CA to Alaska). That said, I never seemed to completely master the backing up part with the small trailer. I obviously have the concept down but are there any special tricks that help?
I come from a non-trailering family so no help there. I'm on my own here!
