16' Bambi - Shedding Weight - A/C & spare tire
As I mentioned in my last post I am the mostly happy owner of a new 2006 quiksilver bambi. I was wondering if anyone here had any experiece with:
1. Removing an A/C unit (aka roof repair). I assume that if I remove the A/C unit there will be one or more roof panels that need to be replaced. Is this easy/difficult/impossible? (I searched the exterior restoration forum for "roof repair" but didn't really get an answer)
2. Removing the spare tire undertrailer bracket. It seems to sit pretty low anyway...has anyone had it scrape and/or collect road debris? I could put the spare under the bed (or in the tow vehicle if necessary).
3. Buying replacement 215/75R14 tires. How difficult are they to find? My experience with interesting/useful tires is that tirerack will have them, my local discount tire stores will not, and the full price dealers may or may not. Could I get by with just a patch kit? (particularly since a lug nut, torque wrench, and cross wrench will almost put me over the GVWR limit anyway)
thanks in advance,
leo
