I happen to look today to see what had happened. Apparently the guy ended the listing early so that he could sell it to his current high bidder which was some $13,500.00. I guess he figured he was not gonna reach his reserve (which was ?) so he better go for the guaranteed sucker rather than hope for an even bigger sucker to come along before the auction ended.
I think the ambassador is a better value than the safari...If nothing else, you could always generate extra income from renting it out. And it looks like no trees were harmed in the sale of that Airstream... Not that I want either of them.

The LAST exterior picture says it all. Oh hell no! Every panel and several ribs are gone.
Now if it were $2000-$3000 and you wanted to update/upgrade an old shell, you'd have a refrigerator, stove, sinks and several pieces of furniture that could be used. I doubt the couch would be usable unless you removed one or both arms (widebody vs. older standard body). The awning fabric could be used on a new roller... But even if you could salvage every window, tank cover, etc. you'd never get $13K worth of equipment out of it... even if the A/C isn't a gonner.
God help the poor schlepp that's stuck spending $13K or more for it. Jeez... if it coulda been fixed the insurance company would never have totalled it.
Whew... someone should report this as e-bay fraud.

I too would prefer the hot pink 7 panel one even though it clearly needs new axles! It could be repainted.

sent the seller an email - trying to be helpful without being rude, but it obviously wasn't received that way
I sent this:

Not trying to be rude - but that airstream is not worth more than $500 in the shape it's in. Add in all necessary replacement/rebuilding costs, it far exceeds the value of scrapping it. The bathroom pieces are no longer made, and not standard items - that alone devalued the trailer extremely. See Price vs. Condition - Airstream Values for more info. Good luck!
He relied with this (edited for a family forum atmosphere)

DO PEOPLE LIKE YOU ENJOY SENDING STUPID A** EMAILS LIKE THE ONE YOU SENT ME. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE PRICE, MOVE THE H*** ON. DON'T WAST MY TIME SENDING NEGATIVE MAIL TO ME!!
Hummmmmm, it looks like a special "HABITAT WITHIN REACH" model that was wholly outfitted from nearby Habitat for Humanity discards. It certainly is eclectic. Well, it being the Holidays and all, I'll be generous and leave it for the next guy or gal. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I've seen worse. Someone will get a shell they can customize. An open, clean canvas.
