Yes, Yukionna, the only performance at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center is Sunday Aug 16. The site you linked to was incorrect. You'll notice it doesn't actually have any tickets for sale!
So we won't be overrun with Phish attendees before Sunday, and we're leaving on Sunday anyway. balgrn, don't let the Phish concert dissuade you!

Thanks Rich. I deleted my post because it was confusing as I was sorting things out. Glad to hear that Phish will only be in NY on Sunday.
Unfortunately, we have decided to pull out of this one. While Phish and Phish Heads, might be fun for me, for my 8 year old ... not so much. The date change threw me also. I can't get that many days off this year.
Come on now the Phish crowd is very mild... Compared to a lot of the freakaziods out there. The crowd will probably be similar to a Dead concert today. People 30-50 y/o driving Volvos and Subarus and letting loose with some recreational weed... Probably more Starbucks cups there than bongs!
I have been taking the kids camping since they were 3 months old and only once (last summer in a Baltimore campout) have I had any people problems. One guy got waaay too drunk and he started cursing and carrying on in a bad way in front of the ladies and kids. Luckily he was delt with in short order by being punched out with one shot from the landowner/organizer. Then the cops came and escorted him away... This dude was mental though sober or drunk. It happens, and all the kids who saw it had questions, but understood at the same time.
Long story there, but unless people are cursing and being mean it is all good. And once the kids are asleep feel free to curse away if you so choose.
I hope everything works out on the '49 and hope to debute it at that show! As it goes along we will see what happens.

I'm sorry to say that I've been hearing some really unfortunate rumors about Phish concert lately. It's time to lay them to rest.
RUMOR: Phish concert attendees will be coming into the park three days before the concert.
While anyone can visit the park during daylight hours, the Saratoga Spa State Park does NOT allow overnight camping. Attendees of the Vintage Trailer Jam are the sole exception. The only other group that has ever been allowed to spend the night have been Boy Scouts.
I've been assured by the Park staff that any concert-goers who attempt to set up camp in the park will be evicted.
RUMOR: The Phish crowd will cause noise, disruption, and other problems during the Jam.
The truth is, the concert doesn't happen until after the Jam is over. We changed the dates of the Jam specifically to avoid any possible problem. It's hard to be disturbed by noise of a concert that happens after you leave!
RUMOR:Security will be a problem. Our trailers might be vandalized or stolen!
Actually, we'll be parked well away from the concert site, and all of our trailers will be clustered together (why do you think we call it a Jam? ) There will always be many people on-site and we always watch out for each other.
Also, the Park has its own police force and they will be fully deployed in the days leading up to the concert. If anything, we'll be better protected than we were last year, when 10,000 people came for a Brad Paisley concert (and we barely noticed them!)

Folks, the VTJ 09 is going to be a fun event, just like it was last year. I'm coming with my wife, and my 9-year-old will be visiting as well. I'm bringing my treasured Airstream and expecting to have a great time with a lot of great people.
If you're still concerned, that's fine, but PLEASE don't spread rumors about the event to ruin other people's fun. Vintage Trailer Jam 2009 is going to be bigger and better than last year. We've got some great entertainment and speakers lining up right now. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge and learn about vintage trailers. I hope you can come!
We will be doing lots of door prizes again this year. I know we have some vendors that are sending all kinds of good things. I have been told we will be giving away some Digital TV stuff as well as some cool silver vent covers. There may even be some more of those fun Airstream trailer silver slippers to be had.....
We are also going to have a big tent on our side of the road to meet under so folks don't have to play chicken with the traffic this year.
PM me if you have any questions!
The Trailer Jam will be fun again this year, you won't want to miss it!
I've signed up to join the Jam. Bringing my vintage (not!) 2009 Airstream International 25FB and our 8 year old and looking forward to fun. This is our first year trailering and have heard a lot of good things about the group events and eager to see all the great vintage units. Glad to hear he'll have other kids his age to play with
I'm working on the schedule now and expect to have a draft up on the VTJ website by the end of the week. All current registrants will be notified by email, if they provided us with an email address, and I'll also post here when it is available.
The schedule is subject to change, but I expect we'll have at least a 90% accurate program to share with you in advance. The final schedule will be included in the "goody bags" handed out when you arrive, along with a lot of other nice stuff!
We are going to have a blast, just like last year, but different KWIM? This is your only chance to camp out in a spot that NOBODY is ever allowed to camp in, so do it while you can. This may be your last chance to stay IN the Saratoga Spa State park.
The schedule looks great. Just a quick questions. We won't be leaving till after work on Wednesday and it is about 8 hours. Is there bullpen parking when we arrive really late that night/early thursday?
Yes there is a "bullpen". The area behind the auto museum is where we set up the bull pen. It will keep you away from the road and should be quiet. We will get you parked in the morning. We may still be up and "could" park you when you get there, but it is safer to do it in daylight.
