I can only imagine the all the hippie kids checking out the trailers before and after the show. The venue is directly across the street and will probably bring out a slightly different crowd than Brad Pasley.

I enjoyed the take on Skynyrd's tune! Thanks for sharing!

Ohhhh...it will be wookie central. I will have plenty of grilled cheese sandwiches to serve up during open house.

what is a wookie you may ask? kinda like a modern day hippy from days gone by. see PASSED OUT WOOKIES

Exclamation Date change

Hi folks

It's great to see that some of you are psyched to have Phish in the park the same week as us. But we had to do some heavy thinking this week after the Saratoga Spa State Park staff called us to warn us about the realities of sharing the Park with 35,000 Phish fans.

(For comparison, Brad Paisley was supposed to bring in about 13,000 people but the turnout was lighter than that due to rain.)

Phish's arrival will bring considerable disruption to the Saratoga Spa State Park, including the area in which we are camping. There will be thousands of people roaming around all day, with security, parking, traffic, and crowd control problems. We would probably not be able to effectively prevent the crowds from entering our camping area. Noise and traffic would likely interfere with our scheduled events.

Based on recommendations from the Park staff, we have decided that for the security and enjoyment of our attendees, we need to move the dates of the Vintage Trailer Jam to be one day earlier.

This means the schedule will now be:

TUESDAY, Aug 11: Early parking (if you paid the $30 early arrival fee)

WEDNESDAY, Aug 12 - through SATURDAY, Aug 15: Parking, seminars and events

SUNDAY, Aug 16: Departure in the morning

We hope that you'll still be able to attend on this new schedule, but if not, please let us know before May 1, and we'll cancel your registration and send you a full refund. You can cancel or modify your registration online by clicking here and then clicking the link that says "Already registered?"
-- or by calling GSM Vehicles at 518-561-4784 or Vintage Trailer Supply at 802-355-6853.

However, if you've already registered and want to stay Sunday night to attend the Phish concert, you can. Only attendees who have registered prior to March 20 have this option. If you would like to stay for the concert, you must notify us by May 1, 2009 by calling the numbers above. (You'll need to get your own concert tickets, of course.)

You will be required to re-park your trailer on Sunday morning to allow cars of Phish concert attendees to be parked in the same lot, and you must depart on Monday morning.

Sorry for the inconvenience of this change. Neither we, the Automobile Museum, or the Park managers had any input into the concert schedule, and we appreciate your understanding. We are looking forward to a wonderful time in Saratoga this summer, and we are looking forward to seeing you there!

Might you schedule another weekend so the working man can come? This really makes it difficult for some of us to maximize the weekend....

Sorry, Frank, we're bound by the park's availability and other factors. We would hate to lose you or anyone who has already signed up, but this was the best compromise we could come up with. I hope you can still come.

I would be happy to handle the details if we get enough interest.

This sounds great, and I hope a lot of attendees will want to join you. Since we've changed the dates of the VTJ, I assume you would also move the day of the parade to Wednesday the 12th.

Anyone interested in parading in should get in touch with Vic (startrekker2001 on the forum).

I have seen quite a few Phish shows myself and enjoy their music. Since this is their last show of the tour I suspect it's going to be kinda wild in town that week. It should be fun to hear the feedback on the Phish heads from the older attendees.

I can already hear some of the comments like "Did you smell that guy?", "It sure smelled like there were a lot of skunks in the park that week" or "Mushroom quesadillas sure seem popular with the younger crowd".

We prefer "people of a certain vintage" and mushroom quesadillas sound good!
The concert is one night only on the Jam departure day so incoming traffic could be the only problem.

After much consideration, we have decided not to attend. Hope next year the situation there will be more favorable...
