Rich, will we be able to park the truck with the trailer or do we have to move them to a parking lot?

Count me in for an elderberry or two!

This will be a learning experience as I've never baked in my GT oven yet! Oh...come to think of it, I haven't slept in it yet either! The Globetrotter...not the oven!

BTW, I'm a new at this and looking forward to meeting everyone!

looking forward to meeting Robin and seeing the 18 "footer".

I was being baked in my trailer this week. Not the oven. The trailer was Hot! 2airs pie rally is a great idea...in October. I think with all the reflecting metal we may have to try a solar oven of some sort. Besides, who wants to be pie making in the galley when we could be out and about in vintageworld.
I still want my pie Frank. And your apron better be color coordinated with your Overlander's interior. Extra points will be added to your concours judging score.

ps. I did think about putting my head in the oven a few times during the restoration. but I'm OK now. really.

Gary, When Wally was traveling through Africa and he had the urge for some pie, do you think Stella said, "No, Wally it is too hot to bake a pie for you"? Maybe this is not a good example, cause Wally used the oven for shoe storage, but you get the idea. I brought up the idea of baking pie to show that not only are our trailer old, but they can be used for good old fashion entertaining. My Great Grandmother always baked pie for any guest that came to visit. I always see pie as a form of peace offering, much like the peace pipe was for the natives of this country. It is very hard to be angry when you have a bite of fresh peach pie in your mouth, for a matter of fact it causes you to relax and smile a lot. I am urging folks to bake pie to show that these tin tubes are more than just places to sleep, that they are a home on wheels. What says "welcome home" more than fresh baked pie? Haven't you ever wondered why the exhaust fan is right over the stove? That was a design feature that was developed on the first caravan to Mexico so the women could bake pies(it was the early 50"s and women did it back then, Finally we have advanced and I, as a man, am allowed to bake pie) and all the heat from the hot oven could be pulled to the outside. That exhaust fan was one of the first "from the road" design changes made and it was all due to pie. I understand you come from Maine, where a 65 degree day is wicked blazing hot for you, but I appeal to your sense of diplomacy (and Wally legacy) to bake a pie...

For Gary: A peach
For Yukionna: rhubarb and blueberry
For Rob Baker: shoe fly

The smell of pie will fill the air in Saratoga New York

I am also into Potluck suppers... are we having a few of those? If nothing is planned, I want to offer an informal potluck at my trailer. Ask any that attended the East Coast Vintage Rally a couple of weekends ago... I know how to turn potluck into a major party...

Some vehicles will be moved a short distance away, but in the same general area (maybe 100-200 feet from your trailer).

Frank,
We are planning on Peach Cobbler. Melissa and I are all in for a potluck or 2 or 3!! We have plenty of propane for all of our baking needs!
We could call it the VTJFPL (Vintage Trailer Jam Forum Pot Luck) or some other name that will best suit!

Does anyone want me to pickup some NY Bagels? I will be leaving Long Island early afternoon on Thursday. They should we good for a few days. They reheat well in the oven or toaster. How are all the AF folks be able to identify each other?

I didn't think you were serious about the rhubarb pie...but now that I see it on an official looking "pie list", I see that it is real! I can't wait to sample a taste of your pies.

Also, count us in for pot luck too! Does anyone like pork loin encrusted with maple champagne mustard and cracked pepper?

Pardon me, would you have any gray poupon?

We will pass on the pork loin but how does grilled salmon encrusted with pistashio and honey mustard port wine marinade sound? Could be awful....just made it up. But encrusted anything sounds good. But if we are going to do it up in the pot luck department, we will have to come up with something to keep up with the Yukionna high cruisine throwdown.

This would be a big jump from chips and dip at some rally pot lucks. Frank has mentioned a spring roll speciality that could make an appearance. Vege or shrimp I think. But no time for that as he will be sweating in the hold of the galley mass producing lil' Debbie size pies to fulfill his promise of pie for the masses. Hope.......peace.......and a pie in every oven.

So it seems we will have to crack open a cook book to keep up with the Saratoga springs trailer crowd!

How about a "Parade" thru Saratoga to the Park.

We will caravan from the Wilton Mall to the Saratoga Spa Park through downtown Saratoga on Thursday July 10th at 2PM ala Vintage Parade at the International.

We will form up at the Wilton Mall and fly flags at no more than 11 feet high. I am checking with the Sheriff to confirm the lowest clearance. I have been over the route and there are wires crossing the street and trees overhanging. I will run the route solo before the rally to make sure there is enough clearance.

Directions to the Caravan form-up area:

From South:
I-87 (Northway) Exit 15 on to Rte 50 N
RT on Rte 50 to 3rd traffic light 1mi to Wilton Mall on right

From North:
I-87 (Northway) Exit 15 on to Rte 50 N
LT on Rte 50 to 4th traffic light about 1.1 miles to Wilton Mall on right

From Wilton Mall to VTJ08
LT on Rte 50 (Broadway) for 3.3 miles
RT on Rte 29 (Washington St) for .9 miles
LT on Rte 29 (West Ave) for 1.3 miles
RT on Rte 50 (Ballston Ave) for .3 miles
LT on Geyser Ave (Avenue of the Pines) for .2 miles to VTJ08.

Total distance is 6.0 miles. The highest speed limit is 45 mph for the first 2 miles on Rte 50. We can go slower. The remainder of the route has a 25 to 35 mph limit.

So far I have 3 firm, possibly 5. Contact me at sol3classm@aol.com if you wish to caravan through Saratoga and into the Park.

Air Stickers and new fridge

Yes Please bring some extra Air Stickers!

After reading these latest posts, it's a good thing that we had a new fridge put in today in preparation for the VTJ!

Can hardly wait. I think that I have to start packing this weekend.

I'm thinking Southern Pecan Pie. I'll be using some of my secret Pecan stash, picked from my parent's trees in AL. YUUUMMMM
