Marmalade requires PEEL. Does that mean trailers that are de-clearcoating are welcome?

American Pie

If they serve PIE at this JAM I promise to stop complaining about the burnt flesh dinner offerings!

Cool is what you make it, brother. To me, what makes the vintage crowd special, the essence as it were, is the attitude of the people. I would guess that the people that own the vintage trailers are more interested in the camping aspect of the product. If someone comes along and wants to call a rally a "Jam", that's fine by me. Just make sure that we don't need to follow Roberts Rules when the time comes to decide what brand of beer to drink at Happy Hour.

See more, do more, live more. It's always been about the lifestyle. Or at least it was supposed to be.

Well sure it's possible! Have you ever heard that whoever comes up with a better idea is in charge. Plan the rally and we will come.

Vintage Travel trailers and RVs to gather at Saratoga Automobile Museum

UPDATE: Vintage Trailer Jam '08

Looks like Fred's in for a speaker! (thumbs up) I wonder what the tally is up to for participants. And it appears Open House is free.

New announcement at CliftonPark.org

"Vintage Trailer Jam 2008" will be held July 11-14, 2008 at Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Springs NY

In an unprecedented event, open to the public, one hundred vintage travel trailers and motorhomes will camp on the grounds of the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs State Park this July.

Many of these classic vehicles, dating from the 1940s through the late 1970s, will be open to the public on Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members of the media are invited to call in advance for escorted tours.

Alan Edstrom, Director of Programs and Events at the Saratoga Automobile Museum talked about the excitement that the Vintage Trailer collaboration has brought to the community, "This has got to be one of the most amazing summers that the Saratoga Automobile Museum has had, with over a dozen lawn shows. The Vintage Trailer Jam is the cherry on the top - drawing in many people who ordinarily wouldn't even think of coming to a car show. Somehow it evokes warm memories a kind of 'I'VE GOT TO SEE THAT!' experience."

Among the vehicles on display will be travel trailers and motorhomes by Airstream, Spartan, Serro Scotty, Vagabond, Shasta, Avion, Argosy, and Airfloat. The vehicles will be occupied by their owners during the event.

The Vintage Trailer Jam will also include seminars for owners and would-be owners, on topics such as restoration, travel destinations, RV history, and buying vintage trailers. Walk-in admission to the seminars is $45, but the Open House is free to all.

The event will also include a sword-swallowing and fire-eating show, a judged Concourse Event with prizes, and a vintage parts flea market on Monday, July 14. Early-bird parking is available for participants on Thursday, July 10.

During the Vintage Trailer Jam, the Saratoga Automobile Museum will be exhibiting a display of GTOs from Electric City GTOs, in anticipation of their National Convention coming to town July 15-19.

Saratoga Springs is a great location for everyone, with world-class spas, museums, great restaurants, bicycling, dozens of attractions, and great camping in nearby state parks. Please note that activities, invited speakers, and amenities are subject to change prior to event dates.

Thumbs up All signed up

Thanks Carol......
for the related info on the area.

We will be there with our well travelled 1962 Safari ...having sent in our donation last week to the VintageTrailerSupply web site.

I did some research about the location and it sounds like there is something for everyone. It looks like the auto museum is located within the park that also contains an outdoor concert area, a restaurant, an old dance hall, spring house, and a large hotel.

Having Fred Coldwell as historian in residence is a big plus for attending.

All kidding aside about the "Jammin" name and the BBQ commentary , this sounds like a great location to hold a gathering of vintage and new trailer enthusiasts. And Steve of VTS will be making accommodations for the vegetarian crowd, small that it is.

Thanks again to the organisers for thinking it up. Looking for to it.

Smile I'm in

Food, Name, whatever.

I'm fairly new to this airstream thing, I guess you could call me a youngin.
maybe one of those new hipsters. But thanks for organizing this airstream event in new york. Most of the events that I have seen are mostly on that other coast. To put an event like this on is no small task.

The name and food had no effect on me signing up. The events, location and professional seminars made this a no brainer. After I signed up and noticed the one year extension to my airstream life subscription was a pleasent bonus. Already signed up and rairing to go.

Nice to know in case of emergency!

We'll be there

Startrekker2001 and Mrs Trekker will be there. We signed up in Feb. Since we will be spending the summer at Saratoga RV Park, just a few miles north on Rte 50, it was just too handy to pass up. The trailer is all polished and ready to go.

Looking forward to seeing friends, old and new.

Is there going to be an open house? Need to know so's I'll have my Sunday-go-to-meetin' jeans with me.
