Cloudland Canyon Rally, September 2011

I just added Thursday to my trip so I will be arriving Thursday before noon. If everyone wishes I will set up side by side 40' sites for Airstreams if you can give me your reservation number.

Also--if you have not made your reservation you are out of luck. The reservation center has sold out all the 40' sites for the weekend. If anyone is going to cancel for any reason please post that information so someone else out there can maybe get your site. Also, for those needing a site, keep checking with the reservation center for cancellations. These holiday weekends do fill up so early reservations are needed.

We spent 3 days in Cloudland Canyou last week. It is the 3rd summer we have camped there, it is one of our favorite place. We won't be able to make the rally but anyone who is contemplating going should try. It is a really nice place We like the West Rim campground the best.

Also if you want some great bar-b-que, turn east out of the park and go to the 2nd intersection. I think it is called the Hitching post, just lower your window and you can smell the hickory smoke. Mel does it right.

that BBQ idea sounds nice, will have to check it out. not sure which campground we will end up in as long as we are grouped in the same general area.

Cloudland Canyon Rally, September 2011

We will be into August on Monday and then its 4 1/2 weeks until Cloudland Canyon. I'm starting to get excited! It will not be long. Once again, Robin and I will be there early on Thursday to get setup and to hold sites for those who want me to that. To hold your site I need your reservation number, otherwise when you check in request a site close to the other Airstream parties.

Hey everyone, does anyone know of any vacant spots? We just found out about a couple who own an Airstream and "Now" wants to join the group! Please let us know so we can pass along this info. Thanks.

Man, would love for you guys to join up with the TAC group. Hope like heck you can find a vacancy but that may prove difficult at this time. Keeping checking with reservations! Also be thinking about 2012, Stone Mountain Rally. Add your vote to the poll.

If anyone has checked in on Thursday, let's get together for a campfire session at my silver place. On Friday morning after breakfast I am game for anyone wanting to join me for a day hike around the rim or top. Looking for an easy/moderate hike.

Hey Silverexpress:

Is there any itinerary planned, or potlucks planned, or lists for either one going on? Just curious.

Terry.

McKinney Army Corp of Engineers on Lake Allatoona in Georgia

A small group of Vintage Shasta's, from the Atlanta area, are trying to start up a rally at McKinney for the first weekend in November.Resevations are being made for loop 86-92. Since Falluminum is already booked full and so is Cloudland Canyon, I was wondering if there is any interest from the local Airstream, Avion, Argosy group in starting another loop next to the Shastas. So far I have found a 57 Airstream, a 59 Airstream, a 68 Avion and a 92 Airstream Motorhome that would like to come. It should be much cooler by November, so we can actually enjoy being outside in Georgia. Let me know if anyone else is interested, Kristi

Not much planned yet but there is still time. Any ideas? I think Saturday for us might involve a field trip to Chattanooga.

Sorry you can't make it but hope to see you at another rally in the future! Be sure and think about the Stone Mt. Park Rally in 2012. Here is somebody's chance to get into a fully booked event.

We are getting closer. I have included the reservation link below if you have a reservation but have not signed in. Looks like around 5 or 6 trailers will be attending which is great. There is a lot more freedom with a smaller group.

Schedule idea. This is just something to think about.

Thursday: Evening Campfire at the Silverexpress (John & Robin) trailer BYOB

Friday: most will be arriving and setting up. Dayhike (easy to moderate) meet at Silverexpress at 1000. Evening Campfire with finger foods (small plate stuff) at Silverexpress. BYOB

Saturday: Breakfast Potluck and brunch @0900. Location to be announced. We will be spending the entire day after brunch at Ruby Falls, Rock City, and other attractions.
Dinner: on your own. Evening campfire at location to be announced. Apples to Apples or Mexican Train for beginners to advanced?

Sunday: Breakfast in your silver palace and then meet at 1000 for the hike to the bottom and the waterfall. Bring lunch in your daypack plus water and other essentials. Wear good boots.WARNING: this is considered a strenuous jaunt. Go slow, easy, watch your footing, go at your own pace and you will make it. Oh, watch out for rattlesnakes. May not be appropriate for younger children. Evening: Mexican Train Dominoes (we have a full set)

Monday: You are sore from the hike and barely able to get out of your silver palace bed. Your jaws are stressed from talking so much with other Airsteamers, you make breakfast, then it's time to think about the trip home.
