Stone Mountain Georgia Park Rally, April 18-21, 2013

Yes, it's time to begin the thread for the Stone Mt. Park Rally, April 18-21, 2013. Already we have five spots reserved in the premium loop so we have 30 openings as of today. Last years rally was a huge success so grab your Airstream spot quickly before they run out. We have a few spots in the orange loop with the rest already taken by an FMCA rally. This place is getting very popular for big rallies. Kristi and I will be working on the agenda soon and will post to this thread site.

Our reservations are for the entire Purple or Premium loop which are deluxe RV accomodations with full hookups, and your very own private deck and cooking grill. It is a very impressive site to see all the Airstream Trailers, Airstream Motor Coaches and a few vintage other brands lined up in the loop. At night the loop becomes the social circle or promenade. I will post more but I wanted to get this out today for everyone to think about.

TAC-GA, Stone Mt. Park Rally, April 18-21, 2013

The park has a new video which showcases all the things you can do in the park. Be sure and give it a view especially if you are new to the park. I recommend you visit their website for additional information.

Video tour of Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta Georgia

The special arranged rally price per night is $49.00. Attraction prices as of today are $28.00 for adults plus tax, and for kids ages 3-11, $22.00 plus tax.
For rally participants entry to the park is free which a good deal. To take advantage of this post a sign inside your window on the driver's side that says"AIRSTREAM RALLY". If you don't post the sign you may end up paying the entry fee which would be a bummer.

This is very much a kid friendly rally!

Some of our reserved sites are in the Orange loop which are very nice and just around the corner from the main group in the purple loop. The camp ground map can be located online under the Stone Mountain State Park website. Two of my favorite things to do are free, one being to hike up the mountain for the greatest view of Atlanta available, and the other is to kayak around on the lake.

Picnic Shelter

Will they allow us to reserve the picnic shelter this far in advance?
If yes: Friday night at 6:30 for appetizer social
Saturday night at 6:30 for the Pot-Luck
Sunday at 10:30 for Brunch
I know this doesn't work out for everyone, but we need to make a decision quickly because two other Rallies will also want to use the same shelter. Go for it John!

Memories From Stone Mountain Campground

https://picasaweb.google.com/1025083...74936605237090

Picture memories to share with campers who attended the TAC Rally at Stone Mountain Park Campground in April 2012. Other Airstreamers can view what they missed out on, so they will plan to get their reservations made in advance for April 2013.

We may need to give a little but the sooner our request goes in the better. Like last year we will have a reservation cut off date in March sometime so to make sure you have a spot, get your reservation in early.

You may already know this but the WBCCI Region 3 Rally starts the following week; I think it is the 23rd. We may need to travel down early.

That is expected. We tried for the same dates as last time but WBCCI beat us to it. So we reserved the previous week. That is a lot of Airstreams over a two week period but there is nothing wrong with that.

TAC-GA Stone Mt. Park Rally, April 18-21, 2013

For those who did not attend last years rally, the following attractions in the park need a pass that you can obtain from the campground when you check in for a discounted rate. They are: Geyser Towers, Skyhike, Camp Highland Outpost, Antebellum Plantation and Farmyard, Summit Skyride, Scenic Railroad, The Great Barn, Great Locomotive Chase Adventure Golf and Yogi Bear 4-D Adventure. The Duck Ride is fun but is operated privately by a separate entity and you therefore need a separate ticket for that. The Duck Ride can be caught at the campground and lasts around a hour.
These activités are free: Discovering Stone Mt. Museum at Memorial Hall, taking in all the shops and eateries in Cross Roads Village,
Laser Spectacular in Mountain Vision and Fireworks, hiking up and down the mountain and the various trails in the park. There is also canoeing or kayaking on the lake for those who bring their own boat.

The campground itself is great with a playground, a nice swimming pool, horseshoes, volleyball net, lots of good campground bicycling and so forth.
The campground has a convenience store and does have propane.

Glad to see you and Debbie will be there again this year. We reserved site 157 before we left last year. We will be sure to bring the kid and the violin for a little evening relaxing music with a cool beverage.

Thanks to John and Kristi for helping to pull this together again this year.

Good point, there is Falluminum just around the corner and Springstream so with the Stone Mountain rally that's three great rallies to participate in.

Sorry to say we are buried in work and school now so we will not be able to join the group for Falluminum. It looks like a great group and several from the spring rally at Stone Mountain.

Hope you all have safe travels down and we will look forward to catching up soon.
