Filling the Tanks before Launch
Photo taken just prior to pot-luck this evening. All tanks are now full, and most are resting up before the 4:39am blast off. Many, many thanks go out to Funkill (front row center) for giving us this great opportunity.

I wish I could think of something to assist you guys, let me know if I could help in some way, I would like to get my Airstream out of here, the police just came, a man who rents here stole my wallet, the police came, they left, said nothing could be done. So I seem to have a lot of time on my hands right now. I have a lot of friends who have helped me think up solutions to many problems. If you have any idea on how I could help. let me know, OK?

I'm sorry to be late in getting all this, do I understand it correctly, the launch is on Thursday in Florida, I see many people are there already, what would make the launch time be extended so the rest of the AS people could come? Any ideas?

Dear Rodney,
When can you be there? What is holding you up? I thought you might have some other options? I am trying to figure out how I might help? Let me know..

Repairs and upgrades are taking longer than planned, just one of those things.

Where are you now? If the launch time is extended you might make it, if someone comes up with an idea who I could call I would try it, my dad's name might help, Arthur C Clarke, he designed the GOES weather sattellite, believe me, lately my life seems a bit charmed and I would do anything to make this happen, but I need a little help here...

I'm in middle TN. If they extend and if someone can get us into KARS I will be on my way. Thanks for your concern, you have to play the hand you are dealt, not the one you wish you were.

Sunday, February 07, 2010 2:30 AM
Space shuttle Endeavour's launch attempt has been scrubbed due to a low cloud ceiling over Kennedy Space Center.

Hey - can you make it bright-n-early tomorrow, Monday? There's still lots of dry room at KARS. Nice dry spot behind me!!!!
I just came into work for a couple hours to get caught up with some stuff - and get a quick fill of internet & TV. Looks like the Atlas 5 launch is rescheduled for Feb 10. If shuttle doesn't go tomorrow, it now shows a reschedule date of Feb 15. Yikes.
I have to head out of KARS on Monday morning. But I'm fairly sure there are plent of folks staying for a few days in hopes of catching one of the launches!
I was hoping there'd be some way for us to gather and watch the superbowl this evening. Brought my TV - but it is probably too coooooooold to sit outside. Maybe a few want to head out to watch it nearby???
Signing out --- Laura

If they go to a Feb 15 launch date, is there the possibility of getting into KARS?

Boy GD,
Are you hard to please.....the shuttle gets pushed back to the 15th, you live how far from the site, you still want to know if you can get into this KARS place, and I sure did not have one thing to do with the date or time being moved, if you should happen to catch that last drift...

Awesome
Laura:
That was the best. Thanks again for the invite, a truly once in a life time event.
Unless you’re aware of some reason we can’t, per our previous discussions, we intend to stay at KARS (using your guest pass) thru at least Wednesdays, Atlas V launch (NASA - NASA's Shuttle and Rocket Launch Schedule). We are also kicking around going up to Daytona Beach, for the NASCAR 500 on Sunday. And we will be happy to sponsor (if needed) any other AS’ers who would wish stay as well.

Nice shot deauxrite! The launch was absolutely beautiful. When
it pierced that little thin cloud , it really added to the color and gave
some respective. Awesome!
While touring the KSC Sunday, after the 1st launch was canceled,
I spoke with people that waited an hour and a half before they could
return to their hotel because of traffic. I didn't have the heart to
tell them we had a 100 yard walk to get back to bed.
We can't thank Laura enough for giving us this opportunity. What a
class act rally with great people. This is one rally we will never forget.
Laura, best of luck to you!

The launch looked spectacular on the video clip I saw, bet it was WAY cool being there. How far from the pad is KARS? Looked like a good view. Glad everyone got a chance to see it, be safe as you hit the road again.

A big thanks to Laura. We had a spectacular visit and the lift off was the best we've seen. I second all the comments made about forums rally.
Hope we meet again somewhere down the road.
