It will be whatever length it needs to be if any of those spots are left. We also have a 12 ft clearance. I think Davefl is the other one with a AS motorhome based on profile pictures. See you all Friday morning.

We are making a dish that is a big favorite on the planet Remulack(home of the Coneheads). It is hot lactate of hooved mammals with curved starch tubes.

Dagnabit!

Getting the gray tank in is taking longer than it should (mechanical problems and a light bout of the flu) and I may be a day late getting out of dry dock, but I'm going to be there baring further disaster.

Just as long as they let us in on Friday and a place to put this 36ft thing we will be ok. Is everybody who owns a recreational vehicle in the United States of America either going or already in Florida this weekend? There is nothing open anywhere. Super Bowl, Daytona Week, Disneyites, and Launch people all seem to be heading that way.

Not to mention the Whole south East region of the FMCIA is also in the state and there are a bunch of them too!!

We are on schedule for departure this afternoon, and set to enter geostationary position on Friday afternoon. See you all then.

STS-130 Crew at Kennedy, Launch Preps in Full Swing

Wed, 03 Feb 2010 07:11:03 AM CST

On Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, pressurization of the gaseous nitrogen and helium tanks on space shuttle Endeavour were completed overnight. Teams also are preparing the pad for the start of launch countdown that begins 2 a.m. EST Thursday.

The six STS-130 mission astronauts arrived at Kennedy's Shuttle Landing Facility at about 10:10 p.m. last night. After settling into their crew quarters in the Operations and Checkout Building, they worked through the night reviewing data and equipment, including procedures to replace the ammonia lines that will be used to cool the Tranquility node. The crew now is on a sleep schedule to match their evening and overnight work hours during the mission.

A prelaunch countdown briefing will be held this morning at 10 a.m. EST and aired on NASA TV at NASA - NASA TV. The participants will be NASA Test Director Jeremy Graeber, STS-130 Payload Manager Joe Delai and Shuttle Weather Officer Kathy Winters.

In Long Beach, MS final preparations are underway for an early morning launch.

Florida bound!!!

We left snow in Nashville yesterday mid-day and overnighted south of Atlanta at Cracker Barrel -- a little too close to the interstate for restful sleeping --but where things are warming up a bit this a.m. Our plans are to de-winterize later today (in warmer climes) and hopefully have a more restful night tonight. We plan on arriving at KARS on Thursday so will check in according to instructions.

Can't wait!

Is Cracker Barrel a good overnight spot? I have heard Wal-Mart, Camping World, or Flying J. Being new to this, we were looking at those options. Any suggestions?

Cracker Barrel

We have used Cracker Barrel on several occasions and were very pleased. Went to the CB website and found locations with RV parking, went to google sat. to view the site and then called the manager to advise of our plans. We usually arrive for a late dinner, then wake early for breakfast and on our way. The managers seem to be very appreciative of the heads up phone call and will usually tell you the best way to park in their lots.

This was our first overnight at a Cracker Barrel and they were very welcoming. We did a latish dinner there (which do do fairly often) but this time we just stayed the night! We checked in with the cashier who was very gracious and said we were very welcome to stay and that she would let the manager know that we were there. Great for those times when you just want to eat, sleep, and get back on the road.

After reading the messages about the park filling up we decided to head over this noon. We are glad that we did. We have watched a few motor homes search around for a hookup as in this area we think they are all gone; one other Airstream in our north loop along with some long timers and assorted other rigs. Most of the Airstreamers are in the southern loop. It is kind of difficult to tell since KARS appears to be sort of park where you can. We did get water and electricity and the place is pleasant enough. Anyway we are here for the launch and this I think will be nearly ideal.

look for hiding sites

Make sure you look very closely for sites ---- especially on the most south side. Yesterday there were about 4 RVs in there. BUT -there are actually 6 or 8 (can't remember from my lounge chair) sites amongst their little congregation! The other RVs are situated to block direct access to the utilities and your parking to gain the access is going to be challenging. I bet a couple of the very large motor coaches couldn't pull it off - but a TT should! Though, that is the wet area and it is suppose to rain Friday. It drains fairly quickly.....

I'll be there by about 11:00 and will be ready to assist. To the best of my efforts...

Not looking good.....

Today was another day of setbacks in dry dock . Its starting to look unlikely that I can get there before the launch. This is an enormous disappointment as I have wanted to watch a launch since they rolled out the shuttles back in the day. It is still just within the range of possibilities that I will be able to pull this off. Heres hopping for the best.

We have completed the 1st day of our journey and made it to a St Augustine rv park, not a bad spot. Yes I am spoiled and like electricity so decided to enjoy it tonight since it will be lacking the next couple of days. Will be heading out in the am to Kars Park. Be on the lookout for a spot to put this big thing. I would rather have a dryer spot then hookups at this point because its pretty heavy.

Ready for the launch

Hey, we have two boxes of moon pies, mars bars, milkey ways, eclipse gum and a 6 pack of blue moon beer, along with a case of cheap red wine. Can't stop us now we are ready for a launch. Please save us a place next to the Tiki Hut.

Got ya covered.

All:

We will be supplying cups, plates & utensils for this evening's event.

Note: The gate guard told us, that they try to keep the $10.00 a car folks south of the guard shack, for the launch.
