Nearest Airport is Quonset Point..

Just returned from week on beach in southern RI, and checked out campground, even though we'll be 3,000 miles away that weekend.. Looks gorgeous! About 15 miles up Route 1 past Pt. Judith and Ferry terminal is Quonset Point Airport, off Rt 403 (?). There is Naval Aviation Museum, large secretive torpedo factory (no tours..) and an FBO that does flying lessons and charters.. If weather good, it should be possible to rent plane from Cessna FBO there and take pictures. Quonset Pt also is location of Ferry to Martha's Vineyard, for those who have been to Block Island already... There are also FBO's with aircraft rentals or charters at T.F. Greene Airport in Warwick (south of Providence..), which is primary air carrier airport for Providence area.. When I visited Quonset Pt, someone was taking lessons/practicing takeoffs and landings in a blimp, but I doubt that would be available for pictures...

NEU Songbook?

How about printing out the lyrics to some of our favorite campfire tunes so everyone can sing along?

Hi,

Don't know which thread is the right one but here goes.....

Regardless of my fractured pelvis Richard and I intend to attend the RI Rally.

I would like to bring corn on the cob to share with the gang. It's as high as an elephants eye and I can bring a fresh bushel right from the fields for us to shuck and cook with lots of butter.

I do not have one of those neat burners like Paul. W. had when he did the yummy Wedding soup at the Wedding Rally. Can someone help me? I have a big pot to boil corn in. I'm set with that and the grabbers.

I also hear we have 22 kids coming....YEAH, finally someone for me to play with. I'm going to create Bubble Heaven!!!!!

I need anyone who can to bring one of those 36" blow up swimming pools so that I can fill them up with dishliquid and glycerine which makes BIG LONG Lasting bubbles which are really neat!

Kids should bring any bubble making device they want so they can join in the fun!!!!!!!

I'll try to get Richard to post a picture of me with the neighboorhood kids and our GIANT bubbles so you can show them to the kids coming to the event.

I personally will be using an old badmitten racket with gauze wrapped around the edge for my bubbles.

Late Registration

Is it still possible to register for this rally? This would be our very first Airstream Rally.

Welcome to the Forums, Bruce! What type of rig do you have?

It would be great to have you join us at this rally. I would try to contact the rally site Fisherman's Memorial State Park at 401-789-8374 to see what is available and book it!

Please post here what site you are on and we look forward to seeing you in RI!

just checked my charts (not current), and the closest public airports would be Westerly, Newport State, and Quonset.
Bummer that my dad sold his plane last year, or I'd have him fly down and meet us. but...no more.

Bruce: welcome! I'll leave your question to Titu and/or Gail, (the hosts), but at this particular venue, we all had to have our own sites reserved individually, as its a state-run campground. a very popular one, at that. There's always the chance of a last-minute cancellation, though. People reserve these sites many months in advance.
Even if you can't get a site, you should try and come in for the day and visit...maybe make plans for "the next one".

Bruce,

I want to add that if you are successful in getting a site, please contact our wonderful rally hosts Titu & Gail (post #83) and give them your information: # of adults/children, etc. If you click on their name you have an option to send them a private message.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/441809-post83.html

I hope you are able to book a site!

Hi Bruce,

I just spoke with your wonderful wife on the phone and gave her a name of a campground 10.5 miles from where we will all be. Fishermen's Memorial State Park is FULL as of today when I called.

Here is the name of the campground for those of you who want to attend the rally. This campground currently has site availability. Stop by Fishermen's for the day, we'd love to have you join us all.

Looks like it is right next to Chuck and Earl! They can start the morning coffee! Is the area behind 103 open space?

Too bad sites 104 and 82 aren't part of the rally group.
