The 2nd Texas State Vintage Rally will be at Houston North KOA, Montgomery, TX from Feb 6-10, 2008. Montgomery is close to I-45, about 60 miles northwest of Houston.
You must have an Airstream to attend, but WBCCI membership is not required.
It is the same terrific location as last year, all full hookup concrete pads with indoor pool and a great meeting room. Vintage rigs will be parked together on a side road along a lake.
The program will be similar to last year with two catered meals, seminars, flea market, dealer new-product display, Saturday Public Open House, vintage judging, door prizes,, and entertainment. We will be requesting the dealer to bring one or more of the new Airstream Sport models for those who have not seen one.
Two Region 9 WBCCI units are cooperating to bring you this event: Texas Highland Lakes Unit and North Texas Unit.
We had 70+ rigs including about 25 vintage rigs last year. We're shooting for 100 rigs this year.

Reason: Some changes in the rally plans
We met at our rally at Bellville last weekend to firm up plans for the rally and assign chairpersons. We will travel north to meet with our co-host unit in the next week or so.
I have edited the post above to reflect some schedule changes.
We are having 2 catered meals this year rather than one and we are dropping the pot-luck as the expected group will be large We will be moving the flea market away from Sunday morning. Entertainment will probably be Bluehrass.

You are right, Pahaska, we're going to have a terrific time again this year at the Texas State Vintage Rally in Montgomery, TX. Feb 6 - 10, 2008.
The seminars planned include topics such as cooking for RVers, riveting, flooring, polishing, tips for interior improvements, general maintenance & repair. Registrations are coming in every day so don't be left out!
Shoot me a personal message and I'll email you a registration form and proposed schedule of events. You'll want to take advantage of the $5 per person discount if you register before January 1. Hope to see you there.
We will have a pot luck and we are back to two catered meals. The catered meals are included in the rally fee.
We have some fine musical entertainment lined up. I have heard them and they make some truly good listening and maybe dancing music.
Bring your excess Airstream or camping related items for the flea market.
There will be at least 4 seminars for the guys (and gals if you want to attend). I will host one based on my Airstream Life "Great Ideas" column with some stuff that will appear in coming issues and more info on stuff from past issues. I will also host a seminar on Maintenance, Safety, Laws, and Towing. Pat McDowell will host two seminars: one on vintage floor replacement and one on polishing.
For the ladies (and guys if you want to attend), there will be seminars on cooking on the road and on medical issues while traveling.
Our local dealer will be there with two trailers. One will be a new Airstream Safari Sport; the newest thing in th Airstream line. I think the other may be a DWR (Design Within Reach) which is a fancy Christopher Deam-designed 16' model.

As of Jan 1, our attendance is in the gray area between being able to get the grand ballroom where we were last year, or settling for a smaller room. We must have a minimum number of attendees to get the grand ballroom without paying an exorbitant cost. We are close to that number, but we need everyone we can get to sign up.
If you are coming but haven't registered yet, please give Fred Hazen a call (512-261-0122, cell-512-922-4053) so that he has an accurate count of attendees and then put your registration in the mail.
Yes, we need about 10 more registrations to meet our required number to use the big meeting hall at the rally. And there's room for plenty more!
Best of all, to date we have 21 Vintage rigs coming. My favorite part is the Open House on Saturday and seeing how these folks express their own individual styles for life on-the-road. And the "Best of Show" from last year isn't coming this year so competition will be wide open. Don't forget your swim suit - KOA has a beautiful indoor pool.
So if you are wavering on whether to come or not, or can only make it for two nights, just come on - you'll be glad you did! I will email you a registration and proposed schedule if you contact me soon....
We have 64 rigs registered for the Texas State Vintage Rally in Montgomery, TX (Feb 6-10)with 25 or more of them Vintages so far. Should make for a wonderful Vintage Open House on Saturday the 9th - 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Open to the public.
We've secured the grand ballroom for our dining and gathering plus another nice room for seminars. If you'd like to come for the whole rally or even 2 nights, we are still taking registrations. Send me a PM and I'll email you a registration form and proposed schedule.
Things you'll want to bring: a side dish for the potluck on Thursday, your treasures to sell at the Swap Meet on Friday and your swim suit to enjoy the indoor heated pool. There will be plenty of time to visit with your A/S friends, old and new. Love those vintages!
We spent this afternoon in a planning meeting, assigning parking sites an setting up the seminar schedule.
There are presently 71 rigs registered, 26 of them are vintage. Registrations are still coming in and we know of some folks who will be coming sans rigs. As we did last year, the vintage rigs will all be parked together on a little-used side road, by the lake.
Thursday night will be a pot luck with the rally supplying the main dish of ham. Everyone should be prepared to bring a salad, side dish, or dessert with a maximum of about 10 servings. Friday and Saturday nights will be catered meals.
We will have a representative from Airstream for a question and answer session Friday afternoon. International VP, Tom Collier, will host a "State of WBCCI" session preceding. By the way, we will have a past International President and two current International VPs in attendance. Past International President, Jim Haddaway, will be our Master of Ceremonies as he was last year.
Bring "stuff" for the flea maket/exchange Friday. Vintage rigs will be judged and ribbons awarded Friday night so that awards can be displayed at the public open house Saturday.
There will be plenty of door prizes. There will be a small door prize drawing Thursday, but the majority of door prizes will be given out Friday night so that late comers have a good shot at the drawings.
Look for some good entertainment Saturday night. I have heard them and they are good!.

As of 1/22, we have 70 rigs registered and more registrations coming in. 27 of the rigs are vintage.
Tom Parnel from Airstream will be unable to attend; we are working on a replacement. The replacement may be from our dealer.
We are not serving any breakfasts this year. Coffee will be available at 7:30 am and at the 10:00 break between seminars along with cookies. All lunches are on your own.
There will be the 2 catered meals plus the pot luck at which ham will be provided. Bring a side dish or dessert.
Plan on bringing your unneeded Airstream items and anything else appropriate for the flea market.

As of today we have 76 Airstreams registered and 31 of those are vintages.
There's room for a few more. We have to turn in our count for the catered meals by Jan 31 so better make up your mind this week. You won't want to miss it!
I'm posting a preliminary copy of the rally schedule as a pdf file. It is a bit hard to follow since it will become a folded booklet, but it is complete and accurate as far as we know at this time.
Registrations continue to come in.
