I would also like to get over to the Homer Laughlin Factory in Newell, WV. That is about an hour from the Bash. For those who aren't aware... they have been making "Fiestaware" since the 30s

OK We have some interest. I have e mailed someone at Kentucky as to arranging a special tour. Will see what comes back and let you know. For now any of those that are interested please post your NONE BINDING INTENT, one or the other or both, here to give me an idea of what I have to negotiate with.

Rose the Kettle Corn lady is a tour guide out of Bedford. She might just be able to help us out...

I'm in for Falling Water and Homer Laughlin! Kentucky Knob sounds great if there's time.

We've picked a great location this year... Antsy says he is bringing the whole family (that may take up all 115 spots ), Rose will be back with her Kettle Corn, Don (Mistral Blue) is helping us with an extra special dinner on Saturday night... and as always, Frank brings us those fantastic chuckwagon breakfasts.

For me, part of what makes "THE BASH" so fun is all the folks that take the time to share their interests and talents with others. And not less amazing are the folks who join in fun. Here is a link to the preliminary SCHEDULE OF EVENTS. If you have something you would like you add, let us know. A day trip to see Fallingwater is on my list.

Frank, Dale and I are looking forward to seeing you all at Coopers Lake this summer.

If you locate the campground on Google Earth with photos enabled you will see some good pictures posted by what appears to be a Renaissance Group.

We will just have to take some pictures and post next to them. The only limitation is Google Earth will not now accept any pictures with people that can be recognized in them.

I have attached some "on the ground" photos of our area that were taken by Ace last summer. These are not all of them nor do they show the entire area we have at our disposal, they will give you a feel for the vast space though.

Many, many water front sites, many fully wooded sites, even some in the wide open. The wonderful thing about being self contained is you can camp where ever you want at any time.

Howie wanted some satellite photos from Google Maps. Well, one of the Bash Hosts is able to do one better then Google Maps... I present to you, Ace Ariel Photography.

So if you look at this photo as a clock... The main area where food, fire, and music will be is at 9:00. There is a bathroom building right at the edge of the lake, at about 8:00. This area is also where those needing all night power for medical reasons will be. Electric is EXTREMELY LIMITED. Count on not having it and if for some lucky reason you do have it, count yourself blessed. Absolutely no guarantees on power except those with true medical needs.

Here is a slightly more detailed photo of that area. The shower house is in the center left. The bathroom house can just be seen at the edge of the lake. As I said this will be the main area for all activities. We will actually be blocking off part of the road in this area.

In the lower left corner is the office. There is a store and snack bar there. Coopers Lake is a family owned, old fashion campground. Thought they do not have all the bells and whistles of KOA, they have everything we need. The campground is rather large and 85% of it is at our disposal. A bike, golf cart, or scooter might be a good thing to bring along.

The Ultra Boon dock area in this photo is from 3:00 to 7:00. There will be no generators allowed in this area.

Water should be very readily available where ever you are. Bring a bunch of hose and the Water Boss will get you all daisy chained together. Porta pots will all over the place.

After reviewing the websites for Kentuck Knob and Fallingwater I'd say we're out of the running for both. The websites "politely" tell you that kids must be 6 years old for the normal tour and 9 for the in-depth tours.

Yeah! In 3 years we'll be allowed to do the regular tours and 6 until we can do the in-depth!

I have already been asked where to get the registration forms. Many do not like to read back in the thread. Follow these links and you will find what you seek.

Jason, there might be some teenaged girls willing to baby sit so you and the missis can go. I just might know a very responsible girl looking to make a little extra "snack bar" money. This might work out well for many parents and grandparents perhaps just want a few hours to have some "one on one" time (you can interpret that anyway you wish).

I have received my first e mail from the staff. Not sure we can over come this issue but I will bring it up as things move forward.

I know from first hand experience that camping trailers are not very good at muffling sounds from within. Perhaps if there's someone that's going to babysit for us then I should request a spot in the noisy generator area (even though I'm not using one). That way, when the kids are gone and noises start coming from within our trailer...

Wait, were you implying that Andrea and I could use the babysitting in order to go to Falling Water and Kentuck Knob?

Don't worry about it too much, Howie. Andrea and I are well aware that our little heathens can be just that sometimes. The age limits set by Kentuck Knob and Falling Water are there to ensure that the other paying guests get a good tour and that the little ones don't get tired-out with the walking. When it comes to hiking, our little ones handle it well and I'm more than ready to carry kids on my shoulders. There's been times though where we've had to "abort the mission" due to unruly children and our respect for everyone else to not have to deal with our kids' misbehavior.

That being said, don't go out of your way to push the tour staff to allows my little ones on tour. I'm sure that our family will be back to this area many times in our lifetime. I'd much rather take the tour when the kids *might* appreciate it.

When Boomer, Ace's Mailman, came to his door yesterday, he had three more registrations in his hand. This brings the current count to 33 trailers. That is almost 1/3 filled in just a few days....

There is also a page on the AirForums Rally Page(this not a rally, it is an event) that you can RSVP on so that everyone knows who is coming.

STOKED does not even begin to describe how I feel about this Event.
