[QUOTE=62overlander;976383]I just ordered the rocket kits. Thanks to Dan I got hooked up with the Boy Scouts of America. They had a very good price on bulk kits. Here are the two I selected...
Attachment 126556
The Alpha...
Attachment 126557
The Viking
I will have 24 kits for sale. They will cost $12/kit and include 2 rocket motors. I will also have some extra rocket motors if wanted. We will have all the materials needed to build your kit. We hope to build a three rocket launch pad where each kid can fire the ignition button.

QUOTE]

Frank, put us down for a rocket kit, Nickolas will get a blast out of that!

Gotta covered Doug...

We will have a build one afternoon and launch the next day. Perhaps I should order another dozen, they are very popular. I might order the real simple kits for the youngest in the group.
I am kind of hoping some older kids bring some big rockets from home we can launch also. I once built the Apollo 13 rocket with the three stages. It went up and worked perfectly. All three sections came down as planned right onto a tall building. I was never able to retrieve it.

Frank:

It looks like "the alpha" is a really basic kit. I think Parker might like one of those. If Nickolas is doing one, then I'm sure Parker would enjoy one, too. Please sign us up for one kit or put us on the waiting list for your next order.

FAA coming down on The TAC

Hey Frank

This rocket thing is really taking-off.
I'm sure Adam will love to launch one too.
Do you think we will need ATC clearance. We are just north of the Pittsburgh Airport? We don't need the FAA coming down on The TAC

Ha! Great pun, Ace. Rocket...taking off!

The TAC OH rally was a great start to the TAC season. I think we drummed some support for the Bash.

Hey owenslander!

Thank you for your questions.

Canoes and kayaks are able to be used in the lake. We have used them in the past without issue. Fishing is most definitely allowed, and you may be able to fish right off your campsite. The lake is full of bluegill, sunfish, and bass. In the past, the Coopers' have allowed us to use scooters, and if they're licensed it won't be a problem. There is a well-stocked camp store to buy the necessities, but there is also a market only a few miles away. We're not sure if the market has a bakery, but about 10 miles away there is a Giant Eagle (PA's Main Grocer) that will definitely have a bakery. In addition, there is a new LOVE's truckstop two miles from the camp, and we are close to a huge outlet mall called Grove City Outlets (to keep the wife happy)

In addition, you will recieve a packet with all you need to know, including directions and area attrictions, when you arrive.

See you there!

Kettle Corn at The Bash II

Hey Bash Attendees

We have invited Rose and Diana to pop kettle corn for us again at The Bash II. Their popcorn was a hit last year around the campfire. If you attended the Bash last year, you will remember it as the best you've ever had. If you have not had the opportunity to enjoy this delicacy, this gives you just another reason to come to Bash II.

Thanks to Rose and Diana for coming and popping for us.

Something that often doesn't get mentioned about a rally but that is present at all TAC rallies, especially the Birthday Bash, is something for the little kids. Teenagers will band together and typically occupy themselves. It's tougher to have something for the little ones. Being a parent of two of the little ones, the Bash 2010 was a revelation for me in how to deal with my kids at a rally that is second to none. The Bash was the first time camping that when Andrea asked, "where's Mason?" my answer was, "I don't know...he's around here somewhere." And I wasn't worried about that response. Same for Parker. Andrea and I would be enjoying some wine by the AS and Parker would run by with a handful of other kids. And with the boondocking...they NEVER watched TV the whole weekend...and didn't miss it. I can't wait for another long week of "natural" babysitting. Here's some kid memories from last year...

Jason, you are absolutely right. For kids (of all ages) it is an experience that is rare these days. One of pure and innocent joy. There is some sort of magical bond that forms with all the kids.

All I can say is for those of you who are thinking about attending this year... sign up and come see what it is all about. As with all us folks that have been doing this for 3 years now (including the pre-bash in '09) you will be hooked and so will your kids.

Sure hope to see a bunch of new faces this year along with all our great friends from the last 3 years of camping fun.

Hey Nick

You are right about the awesome photographer.
That photo was taken by my daughter with her Nikon 5000.
I was flying the Cessna that you can see in the top of the photo. I'll let her know she has a fan. I'm sure she will be taking lots of photos at The Bash II
