Rivet Metro-Detroit 2011

It is that time again, the sun is beginning to appear, the grass is starting to turn green and the campgrounds are open. So, lets begin the plans for the 7th annual Metro-Detroit Rally.

The Metro-Detroit Rally as always is on the calendar for August somewhere in southern Michigan off the US-23 corridor. I have contacted the Indian Creek Campground in Tecumseh again and asked nicely if they would have us this year. I am so proud of all that attended last year since they agreed . Indian Creek has the 1st, 2nd, and 4th weekend available, the 3rd weekend is a Nascar event at M.I.S. and most camp grounds (within 30 miles) have reservations in advance. I will contact KC Campground in the hopes that they may have the 3rd weekend open and I will post that once I can talk with them.

Please post up your preference for the weekend of your choosing and we will finalize arrangements.

disclaimer: this a losely knit group (at best) of like minded indivdual campers that agree that by registering themselves with the camping facility that they are responsible for themselves at all times.

Holy #&*^$, Dave, you're alive! I haven't seen much from you lately (or Rhonda for that matter) so I thought you might be locked in a closet somewhere or something.

I'm thrilled to see DM on the plan. We loved our first experience last year. We also loved Indian Creek and we are happy to see it as the choice for this year. I don't know what the previous 'ground was like, but I loved Indian Creek. I can feel the nap coming on from wine with lunch already. Wake up, soak in the pool, some more wine, dinner, more wine, fire, more wine, fall asleep...yeah, I know, it's only 9pm. Tough stuff. It's dark and I'm inebriated. That means sleep.

I've had Aug 20-21 reserved in the calendar for DM since early this year. If that's not possible due to NASCAR, then, well, OK. I can catch a free Indians game on Aug 13 thanks to my company's picnic, but Airstreaming comes first. If you've gotta make it 13-14, then we'll accomodate. If you can make it Aug 6-7, the we'll celebrate...MY BIRTHDAY! (actually it's the 5th, but we'd be there that night). Aug 27-28 works too, but that's one weekend before the Wilds and I'm planning on being at the Wilds the whole time.

Anything but the first weekend would be the best for us! Looking forward to it again and this year no bunking with the rents, we will be bringing biscuit with us! We are going to be planning a vintage rally on the east side of Cleveland August 5 & 6, 2011

I think that a bunch of folks have tried to save the weekend of the 20th. Maybe some will chime in with what they reserved for vacation time too.

I guess after the 2010 camping season I/we needed to rest a little. Work schedules, travel, kid schedules, kid swimming, and just life keeps us jumping most of the time.

I am pretty excited to hit the road this weekend, I got the SOV de-winterized and ready to roll.

What is this vintage rally? Is that vintage as in the attendees or vintage as in old trailers? Has there been anything posted about this yet?

Vintage Ohio

Dave, This is Vintage Ohio---as in vintage wines. This is a wine tasting festival of sorts. Here is the link: Ohio Wines - Vintage Ohio

Should be a fun thing. Punderson is a state park that is near there. Smaller, nice park. I think Loren, Mike and some others are planning on making it a weekend of camping there.

3rd or 4th weekend works for me. On vacation starting the 21st. Could start the week or end the week with Metro Detroit.

2nd weekend at Indian Creek works for us! 3rd weekend would also probably work, as it is move in day for Drew at college.

Any later gets too close to the Wilds weekend. I'm gonna be a little busy.....

Preference is the second weekend.

Also, Vintage Ohio does have a nice ring to it! Maybe we tie in the wine to a vintage trailer theme? With enough wine, even the roughest trailers look good.

I was able today to get in touch with KC. Mark (owner) has to check his books but there is a chance that the 3rd (18-20) is open here. I will know by this weekend if this is an option.
