McKinney on Lake Allatoona in Georgia

Loop sites 93-101 or 102-104 at McKinney Army Corps Of Engineers Campground, on the first weekend in November 2011, is where a few Atlanta area Airstreams will be gathering. It could turn into something bigger if there is enough interest. The local Vintage Shastas will be gathering on loop sites 86-92. Specific sites can be reserved online. Make your reservations then post back to this thread, so we know who to expect.
Site 101 is reserved for a 59 Airstream. Site 86 is reserved for our 68 Avion. As you can see from the pictures, the sites are large with beautiful views.

Love, love, love this campground! The first rally I attended was at McKinney. Been talking about going, maybe this weekend will work!

I noticed on the campground map that lake front sites, in other areas of McKinney campground, are already starting to be reserved. Lets get the Airstream loop reserved before it's too late. Sites 93-100 or 102-104 are still available. The first weekend in November should be cool. Maybe we can have an ugly sweater contest!

McKinney Army Corp of Engineers on Lake Allatoona in Georgia

The first weekend in November may seem like a long ways off, but Mckinney is a very popular campground and books up year round. Sites 102-104 are over 40' long for those of you with Airstream Motorhomes or extra long trailers. Sites 93-101 range from 25-35 feet long. If there is enough interest in this gathering, we can also expand into loop 105-117. You have fair warning about the UGLY sweater contest, so be searching your closets or your local Salvation Army Store!

Coming from Nashville

Reserved site 99, arriving Thur 11/3. Heard much about Lake Allatoona area from friends so figured we'd visit and meet new friends.

Expanding into sites 105-117 at McKinney

A 1995 Airstream Land Yacht has just reserved the drive through site 108, in the next loop. It is a young couple on their first outing in their freshly remodeled motorhome. There are a few other 35-38' sites in that loop too.

I just noticed that McKinney's check in time is 4:00 PM. It starts getting dark early in the Fall, so plan accordingly.

Bring a hard cover book for a "Bring a Book-Take a Book" table.
I will bring a box of children's books for quiet time!

Don't let the Shastas out number the Aluminums, get your reservations in now!

Allatoona Lake (US Army Corps of Engineers)

November 4-6, 2011 is the date for gathering together a McKinney campground in Cartersville, Georgia. The location is approximately 35 minutes north of Atlanta. Let's try to reserve sites 93-104 first, then expand into 105-117. Sites 102-104 plus 112 are at least 40' long for those Airstreams that need the extra space. Four Air Forum members already have reserved sites plus one first time Airstreamer.
The Shasta loop only has one site left, so they may be expanding into the Airstream loop too. We will coordinate activities with them. Get your reservations made soon.

Activities so far:
Ugly Sweater Contest- Bring Sweaters
Polar Bear Plunge-Bring swimsuits
Doggie Parade-Bring outfits for your pets
Book Exchange Table-Bring Used Hard Cover Books to Trade

Make sure you beat the gate closed time! McKinney locks the gate at night and does NOT have a code or other way to get in!

It is a great park.

McKinney Army Corp of Engineers on Lake Allatoona in Georgia

The check-in time is between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM in November. The gate locks at 9:00 PM until 9:00 AM. The check-out time is 3:00 PM.

Atlanta traffic can be brutal, so plan accordingly.

Make your reservations soon and save a site in the 93-104 area.
Airstreams have already reserved sites 98,99,101 and 108 so far.
Lets get the Airstream loop filled up before random campers take the sites.

See you at Cloudland Canyon over Labor Day weekend.
