Murray,

I'd trade family time for a Baja trip as well, especially over Christmas.
Happy Holidays!

Baja Trip Dates v1.0

Ok, looking at the calendar, it sems that Mar24 through Mar 27/28 would make sense.
Mar 24 is a Wednesday, a good day for meeting at or near El Centro, either in the morning or at night. This day would be a travel day for those of you that come from afar. We could then drive to San Felipe on the 25th, or even on the 24th, as long as it's a daylight trip. I suppose we should fine tune this plan once everybody chimes in with their travel arrangements.
Drive back should be on the 27th for the participants with long distances to go, and perhaps Sunday the 28th for those that are able to make it home within the same day.
These dates are 2 weeks before Easter. There should be normal crowds, while during Easter the place gets very very packed.
I am leaning towards Punta Estrella, which is the primitive camp ground right on the sand. They usually have running water at each site, and primitive restrooms/showers available. If the majority of you wants hook ups, then I'll do some digging and find a place we can reserve. However, it won't be as immediate to the sea, then.
Let's see if we can pull this off!

OK. Revisiting this since my wife is making her requests for time off.

It appears that getting to El Centro on the 24th is good. To San Felipe the next day (25th) make sense. Where do we stay in El Centro? All stay and meet at the same RV park? Is there a good one there?

Returning to the states on the 28th (Sunday) is good for us. We probably would make a stop on the way home. It is slightly over 400 mi to El Centro which makes it around 540 to San Felipe from our house. I have no problem with this kind of mileage in one day but my wife and daughter get a little 'antsy' around 1 hour to go in a day.

So that is what my wife is requesting. Let's get some more interest cranked up here. I am REALLY looking forward to this.

BTW, how is diesel availability in Mexico?

Diesel

There is plenty of Diesel in San Felipe. If you fill up in US, you should be able to make it there and back without having to fill. It's about 300mls round trip.

Yeaah!

It's starting to shape up nicely. Can't wait....
I just got back from exhibiting at the Namm Show in Anaheim, and a Baja trip sounds soooo unbelievably necessary right now!
There is plenty of room at Punta Estrella. Anybody else?

We're expecting daytime temps in the high 70's, and nighttime temps in the high 50's by March.
There is always room for more participants!

We are go for this. Looking forward to it. Do you have any other pictures of the place at Punta Estrella?

Do we know where to meet in El Centro? How about how to make reservations in Punta Estrella?

Just want to get all the ducks lined up.

I do have more pictures, will down size tomorrow and post, time permitting.
No reservations necessary. It's a primitive campground, just park and enjoy. Eventually someone will show up and take some rent money from us.
We still have some time to decide where to meet.

Getting close!

So far, Caadoptees, Creampuff, Hidalgo and uwe are going.
The meeting place is Wednesday night, at the Rio Bend RV park in El Centro, CA. They have plenty of full hookup spaces available. A good place to get ready for the beach.
We will travel into Mexico Thursday morning, hoping to be sitting in the sand by lunch time.
Anyone else that wants to come, just simply show up at Rio Bend Wednesday night, or pm me for directions if you want to meet us there later.
Rio bend is at 1589 Drew Road CA 92243, just west of El Centro.
Their number is 760-352-7061
We have caatoptees bring an air compressor for tires, and myself bringing a EU2000i to charge tired batteries if necessary.
Creampuff will drive to the beach on Thursday, after getting his hubs and wheels balanced at InlandRV.
That's it so far...updates as they happen...film at eleven.

We're back!

San Felipe was a blast! The weather was perfect, temps in the 60's at night and 80's during the day. Sunny, clear, and alwasy a slight breeze to cool things down. There were 3 families and their Airstreams, caadoptees, creampuff, and uwe.
We will post pics later.
