When is everybody arriving?

We plan to be at FDR early Friday morning. We'll look for Dave and Eileen. Hopefully there will be lots of empty sites around you (for the rest of us.)

What we need is some local, been there before info, found the CG map but it doesn't show 40 ft sites or terrain.
Which loop has the flattest terrain and highest percent of large sites, if the you have followed the thread, it was suggested to ask for a 40 ft site.
The park map is not to scale and only shows site numbers and maybe which are pull thru.
http://gastateparks.org/content/geor...DR-sitemap.pdf
Just checked and no large sites are left.

We were there last month during the tornadoes (yes, really). I think most of the 40 foot sites are in Area 5 & 6. We stayed in site 501. By the time I got there with the 'Stream around 5:00, all the good sites were taken. Area 5 is pretty flat on the top of a small knoll. IIRC, there are a few other 40 ft sites scattered around. You might call the ranger to confirm site sizes.

Y'all have fun, we tried to get down there for the rally but just get it all together in time.

Jim

We hope to be around 7 pm on Thursday if work doesn't get in way.

We will be checking in thursday around noon, we will try to locate close to the pavillion in loop 5. Thanks to Jim and Susan's info.
We are almost out of test mode, replaced brakes before leaving, first 75 miles with numerous stops, unplanned but recommended by the book to break in the pads.

Last night's sunset visiting with daughter and gkids, feels like we are on vacation.

Georgia State Parks - F.D. Roosevelt State Park

So is the plan for TAC members to go to section 5? It is the closest section to the back entrance to the campground, for those of you who have never been there before. By entering through the back gate, it will save you a trip through the entire park and the whole meandering campground. See you all there.

Smile We are SO psyched...

In our first year as Airstreamers we have met so many kind and generous folks in shiny trailers. At Interstate rest areas, at gas and grocery stops, or almost any campground, we are now not surprised to find another shiny Airstream parked nearby and a smiling couple standing out front. We have gained so much knowledge and made so many new friends this way that we are PSYCHED to be attending our very first Airstream rally. Preparations are almost finished; we pull out tomorrow and will probably arrive Wednesday as the"advance party." Anything we should do?

What road is the back gate entrance on?

From Chipley's Corner follow Rt 354 East (from Route 27) about 3/4 mile - entrance will be on your right.

Cool Callaway gardens alert

CALLAWAY GARDENS, in their wisdom, has decided that we all want to watch the Masters Water ski event, so there will be a premium to enter the Gardens each day of our get together- the whole gardens, the whole weekend, each day.
We bought our Annual senior passes yesterday($40 each), but today they wanted an additional $12.50 per day per person to enter. Without the pass you will be asked to pay $25 for the "special event".

With our refunded $80 bucks, we will be biking on the local roads and perhaps eating a bit at the Bullock House. Looking forward to your arrivals... Pat and Al

So how did things work out for y'all? Did most of you get into Area 5, or did you wind up scattered all around the park?

Jim

Area 5, in Roosevelt State Park, was the place to be for the TAC Rally. We found one 2011 Bambi down by the lake, in another section of the campground. The owners were unaware of the TAC Rally going on in section 5. Once invited, they came to the Pavilion for introductions, appetizers and more information about TAC. The States represented were Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. The ages of the trailers ranged from 1959-2011. Participants ranged from age 4 and up! Many pups were also in attendance. Pictures will follow. Let's do it again next year. It was fun for all ages.

I surely hope everyone had a good experience. Wish I could have made it. Still recovering from my back injury.

F.D. Roosevelt Rally, May 27-30, 2011

I just saw the photos, good looking units there! Don't forget that in the fall there is the TAC-GA Cloudland Canyon Rally in the NW corner of the state close to Chattanooga. Mark that one down.
